Meth Coke v Essendrug tonight

which Drug Dealer shall prosper?

Care Factor?

Care factor is more than zero for me.  While WCE may have been guilty,  at least it wasn't proved by ASADA and then lamely excused by large sections of the media like Essendrug was.  So I'm hoping for a WCE big win.

Amazing WC ? got away with it all

Players flat Lining and some dying. Benny still pinging around from trouble to trouble.

Worsfold, a trained Chemist totally oblivious to the mayhem around him...Not.

The last GF i have been to was 2006. Great game, but Meth Coke could have played another game, they were that juiced. Tonight the Chemist Coaches against them.

The irony....

”Bex is Better”

1991 I think was the start. Went to watch WC play Carlton at Princes Park.

Remarked to my companion how "developed" the WC players looked around the shoulders etc.

Sure it could have been weight work but many of us will always suspect otherwise.

West Coast  v Essendon - why can't they both lose? I'll probably end up on Essendon just because of the "booooo!!!!"

Geelong v Collingwood - I'm heavily on the Pies, that shows how much I hate Geelong.  I hope they lose in some controversial circumstance just to hear Scott's bleating and then are forced to play the semi at the MCG and lose that too.

GWS v Western - I hope GWS beats the Dogs, I'm sick of Beveridge already

Brisbane v Richmond - I hope Brisbane wins and goes all the way, but I'd prefer the Tigers or GWS won the flag ahead of any of the rest.

Interesting

I thought the same for Brisvegas in 2002 as the ran out for the GF.

They were definitely juiced, before it was disallowed

watching a team live can be very different to the TV Cameras

the interior of their changeroom was ankle deep in syringes ?

Is it a bad thing that I have absolutely zero interest in the finals, and therefore will probably not watch a minute of it with the exception of the Grand Final?

Same.

Not entirely correct Sue. Their behavior for years was shielded by the pro West Coast media in WA. Others stayed quiet for fear of isolation.

Trevor Nesbitt was aware what was going on and brushed it all under the carpet.

And he's still in charge

I hope WC do the same thing to essendon as what they did to us in the prelim last year. I seriously couldn't stomach it if the bummers got up tonight.

I want geelong to win tomorrow night just so the pies don't go through to the prelim.

Dogs to knock gws out and I think it will be great to see the lions beat richmond.

Coke versus Peptides - which wins?

The Demons taking a chance on Ketamine didn't work this year

Does anyone else think the bye between Round 23 and the first weekend of finals kills off interest, at least for neutral supporters? I've spoken to a few avid AFL supporters whose teams didn't make the finals, and we all agree that interest levels haven't just dropped but have virtually disappeared.

For balance, I note that Gil MaClalchlan has said that since the bye was introduced, TV ratings, spectator numbers and (I think) revenues have all increased. It is a small sample (of seasons), and could be distorted by the teams playing, but it's only fair that I point out what he claims to be evidence which supports the bye.

Well I wasn't aware that WCE were shielded - I don't live in WA and journos elsewhere didn't bring it to my attention.   I'm not sure which is worse - a cover up of possible offences or excuses (and worse) made for the proven guilty.  Actually I do in terms of the effect on me - Essendon was particularly grating, especially after we got pilloried for tanking when lots of others had tanked, some more blatantly.  Essendon didn't need to try to make that 'defence' before journos were falling over themselves to protect and bolster them!

There should be a wild card round weekend between rounds 23 and week 1.

7 v 10

8 v 11

Essendon V Hawthorn at the G, 80,000, Friday night. A nice bit of revenue I would've thought. But instead we have to watch a bunch of washed up has-beens run around in a stupid AFL x game.

Make these teams play finals without a break, and make finishing top 6 more rewarding.

But how can wild card ever work?

there is no incentive to finish 7th or 8th. None at all

You are merely rewarding mediocrity

so 10 or 11 win. They play September and get thrashed.

It just cheapens a tough season

I'm not in favour of a Wild Card weekend. It just allows weaker teams an opportunity to make finals to be beaten up by stronger teams. A team that is 10th on the ladder after 23 rounds is in the bottom half of the ladder and shouldn't be eleigible to play finals under any arrangement.

I accept a wild card round might keep some momentum going, but I'd rather go straight to finals instead.

(By the way, what happened to 9th?)

Won’t be watching tonight or likely all finals until the GF. As a neutral, AFL has become a crap spectator sport with the poorly thought out rule changes the past few years.

If we don’t make finals next year then I give up on AFL. Unwatchable trash.

Essendrug is not childish or tedious if you speak the odd word of German.

Ja, nein.

Being overseas at present it only just struck me that there is only one match this weekend in Melbourne.

Is this a first for the first round of the finals.

...have thought it since I first came onto the forum... It reminds me of the feeling that the most uncomfortable bits of David Brent in the Office would give me.

So as I have previously written we need wc to thrash the bummers tonight. Then West Coast come over next week and beat collingwood again and inflict pain again on eddie, bucks the players and the pies fans.

Seriously I have had enough of the essendon fans today. They need to lose.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
