So pleased that players have a life outside football... as for some of the dedicated posters here... they need to get one!

I've always said the captain was.
Now it's been confirmed.

Big deal. His tenure as captain is over anyway.

I thought it would have been beneficial to Watch some Finals, if he wishes to play at that level next year.

You need help.

SWYL you are one of the few that on a good day you really do post some insightful things and I do enjoy some of your quality work. But this isn't a good day for you mate.

Or they have never had a life.. either way it's pathetic how apparently players should put aside family holidays or family life to watch finals because something something retirement village ??

Am I the only one that finds this uncomfortable when a complete stranger posts a photo of a bloke with his wife and 2 kids on a family holiday up on an online forum?

Would hope mods step in and take this down.

Unfortunately this is the world we live in now dazzle.

Nothing is private anymore.

They love to joke about Melbourne fans going to the snow, but the snow is mad. no hate from me.

I have never ever been skiing in Australia. Spent 2 months in Canada and loved it but that was 20 years ago. Do I hand in my membership?

Jones is in New Zealand.

Thanks skipper.

Looks like quite a place. Must go there some day. Maybe to celebrate a flag or something.

Queenstown is definitely somewhere to visit. Place is built on Adrenalin; all set among breathtaking scenery.

I haven't skied Cardrona...but have Coronet and the Remarkables. You can get some very good packages to ski there. I first did bungy during a ski season...probably not the most same thing I've ever done...the water..'freezing"

Takes a little while to get used to skiing among NO trees !!  ...but hey....less to hit ...lol

Go there...highly recommend.

They don't have TVs in the hotel?

yes they most certainly do....and invariably the GF is shown

The first time I went to NZ was to QT was 1990  I went partially to enjoy the Skiing..but as much to escape Melbourne in the throng of Filth Fever going into the GF. There was this obnoxious family every day on the ski bus, the type of Aussie tourists that make you blush or cringe. By the end of the week they will have made most peoples 'kill list'  Sunday must have been their last day. I still had another week  and Im sure I speak on behalf of the bus we couldnt wait for them to go. As we traveled towards the Remarkables that Sunday morning he ( [censored]#1) was bemoaning he didn't know the GF score. We all knew he was a Filthy Maggie as he wore his black and white scarf and beanie every bloody day.  No-one answered. Either most didnt know, didn't care or just didnt want to make this lot any worse than they already were..  So I did.  I told him Essendon had won  by a goal after the siren.  Wiped the smile right off his face and we didnt hear another peep out of them for the rest of the day. He was heading home the next day so for at least 24hours or until he happened upon the REAL score he was utterly miserable. I enjoyed the rest of my holiday ;)

Hilarious. ..the epitome  of the Melbourne  stereotype..

Rather be at the snow...and in September. ...says it all.

Who says Jones would rather be at the snow than playing in a final?

At least let the bloke live his life a little.

WYL doesn't think rationally.

He'll want him lighting candles every night and praying to the ghost of Norm Smith to lift the curse for us because curses exist and they matter to current players just like they matter to old blokes who can't let go.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
