Giving 6, 27 and next years which will be between 14-18 all for moving 3 spots up in the draft. Turn it up!!

It's not just 3 spots in the draft for them it's the chance to get 2 top 5 picks.

27 and a GWS future first is probably worth about pick 12. We paid a lot more (given our likely ladder finish) to North for pick 8. 12 and 6 for 3 is about right.

6 and a future first isn't enough, has to be at least another 2nd round pick.

I agree.

They already have a midfield that consists of Taranto, Ward, Coniglio, Kelly,  Hopper, Whitfield, Williams & Toby Greene.

They've also got Caldwell, Hateley & O'Halloran also tryin to get into the side and they would also be adding pick 3 plus Green this year.

Caldwell is the one I want.

6 & Caldwell for 3. Take it or leave it.

And 2020 First Rounder

If GWS can't come up with a better deal with pick 6 and next years first rounder, then we should just keep pick 3 and bid on Greene. Next years draft will be compromised so their first rounder will be most likely 15-20. We need more than that offer. I would ask for an additional pick to add to 6 and next years first rounder.

The entire discussion is based on who we want at pick 3. if our number one choice is likely to make it to 6 then anything else is a bonus. but that doesn't mean we shouldn't play hardball.

I have a funny feeling we'd be keen on Serong over young, just because he can fill the small forward role and rotate through the midfield.

That would be a robbery. GWS wouldnt even consider it. They need the pick they get back for Bonar to use points to land Green. I’m of the mind that GWS 1st round next year will be worth diddly-squat in next years draft. We should be looking at wrenching out pick 6 and a player for 3

Think back to the Hogan trade with GWS.
We gave up more than seemed fair at the time, but in the end we were paying GWS more to make sure they didn't bid on Viney.
If they bid on JV we'd have lost the ability to use pick 4 on another player, so the trade had more intrinsic value to us.

The reverse is happening here with slightly different rules, but the precedent is relevant.

Agreed. for them it's potentially Serong and Green vs Green and no other pics.

i can see exactly why they're so desperate to do that deal.

Pick 3 for 6 + Caldwell or O'Halloran

NOT 3 for 6 + 2020 1st rounder

GWS want pick 3 and Green with late trash picks, then cough the [censored] up! Otherwise it's Green at 6 only.

Play hard Dees.

100% agree.
We didn't do all this work, and aren't willing to greatly assist (a top-4 rival in) GWS, just to get back a late first rounder next year.

I also like the idea of North giving our 2nd rounder to GWS for Bonar, then GWS giving it back to us.

Bonar isn’t going to North. Maybe Essendon, which would be 31 or 33.

Nothing wrong with hitting the draft with pick 3 and 8. infact it's a great position.

i'm sure GWS understand that and we're silly if we aren't demanding a best 22 player along with pick 6 for pick 3.

we need a deal that improves our side for 2020 for this to be worth it.

Geez if we do 6 and 2020 first rounder demonland will go into meltdown. (Me included).

Hope it doesn’t happen. Not for that scenario anyway.

I'd be speechless.

Agree.

Mahoney and co. would've been bent over.

I have liked their trade period up until now, but this was our chance to play serious hardball and get a gun player.

F**k a late first round pick next year. What a joke.

This.

If we do this it ruins our trade period imo and undoes all the good work to date this year.

We need to stay firm and get more for  the pic.

We can trade pic 3 right up to trade night so no need for us to jump at GWS offer.

Sit back and see if the return increases as we would be in no rush.

I think assuming it's picks only.

i'd be telling them if they can add a pick of 13 or better to add with 6 i'd do it.

if we can get Weightman at 13 and say Ash and Stephens at 6 and 8 that'd be a good overall result.

No need to after today.  Would only want to swap if we garner a gun player off them with pick 6 and that opp finishes this evening Ox.

To have 6,8 and 13 wouldn’t be bad. Would also push for a future pic just to see if we can squeeze some more out of it.

We don’t know how desperate gws are.

I suspect they're pretty keen.

maybe if they did a deal with the Suns for pick 15. we could get thier pick 40 odd as well.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
