Would not be in any 22 other than GC. Goody favorite, part of the SA crew.

What do ya mean 'part of the SA crew'.....It sounds like you mean Goodwin favors the SA lads?

As if this season wasn't bad enough, they're going to finish it off by giving ANB a 2 year deal?!

I have no source other than a few DL posters claiming he's signed on.

I think it's just the one poster saying it repeatedly.  Not saying it's not true BTW!

It's another one of his fixations.

Be careful not to upset him though, he'll just get all sooky and put you on his "ignored" list.

Junior had a year off and then was picked up by GWS and played another two seasons. When retired was still one of our best and very durable. Hardly cooked.

My memory is Junior’s calves were playing up (old man injury) and he was struggling to get up week after week. He had just turned 34.

He then took an entire year off, and played one season at GWS in an extraordinary circumstance where they were desperate for experience (i.e. no other AFL club would have entertained the prospect) and only managed 13 games with injuries catching up again.

I still reckon he was cooked but our memories seem to differ.

But out of respect I would have preferred he was offered a deal on the club’s terms.

I read in a VFL report that Tim Smith has announced his retirement. Can anyone confirm this please?

Thanks, that makes sense. I wasn't too sure and embellished a bit to make point. A found memory of Junior in one of his last games for us was when he shirt-front tackled Boomer Harvey who tried to fend and was caught holding the ball.

Thank God it’s not up to you!

Incredible there are still those out there that thinks Jones can contribute consistently.

Classic rose-coloured glasses. Wouldn't get a game for many other clubs and that goes for his last 4 or 5 seasons.

We don't actually owe him anything. We've paid him a bloody good wage for a long time. Decent servant in hard times, nothing more.

You'd think so. Gut feel is we'll get on with it quickly to try and move on from this season.

So 4 gone, do we see another 4 going?  and who will they be? Tim Smith, JKH, a Wagner?, Stretch, ANB, O Mac? you would think 8 will be a good number. 5 in the draft, 2 trades and maybe a FA?

Reports Tim Smith has retired so that's 5 already.

What happens to JKH, Stretch, ANB, Josh Wagner?

JKH and Stretch have to go IMO. Neither are good enough. ANB is borderline and Wagner is a role player for another 2 years.

Now we have 0 small forwards....

All the best Jeffy & Dec - Thanks for your service lads

excuse my ignorance but whats the go with rookies? like Dec Kielty is a Rookie? does that free up a spot on the list or just something we have to fill with another Rookie?

Does that even make sense?

Even Guy Walker also?

Lewis, Tim Smith and Maynard are gone. I think we can only sustain about 6 list changes per year without risking depth issues.

Garlett, Stretch and Corey get 1 more year I think.

ANB and Keilty have to be traded or delisted.

I'm undecided on Omac and Jones.. I think they stay for now.

Sign Frost!

Get Frosty on the 'permanently required' list immediately!

Normal rookies are essentially main list players now anyway, so yeah we'd have to go into the season with 44 players, made up of a combination of 38+6, 39+5 and so on.

Walker is Cat B rookie, so sits outside this list and we have to elevate him to have him play, I think they can sit on this list for 2 years with no upgrades.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
