Jones and Viney cannot be Captains past next week

That’s number One on the agenda of stuff to do.

Jones should be retired, Viney needs to relinquish the captaincy and be told that he will not play unless he is declared 100% fit by a doctor and not himself.

As frustrating as it might be, no it's not.*

The key question(s), is our list decent and how do we make it work.

If it isn't and can't, then we ask another question(s).

*It still might be part of the important stuff however.

I’m with ya. There were too many times tonight to even list where things just looked off amongst the players and has to be down to leadership. Max as sole captain has to be the starting point - who wouldnt want to play for that bloke, he’s all heart. Make Melksham vice captain, genuine goer week in week out.

There are many things high on the agenda but I agree 100%

Neither of these 2 have shown any leadership qualities in this insipid year. We are doomed if either one of them are even VC.

Gawn Captain with a new VC and scrap the leadership group.....who is even in it this year, I would not have a clue.

We have a lot to fix.

Forward line is a mess. Tmac when on the park didnt fire. Weeds regressed. Smith was always a part timer. Milky missed half a year. Fritta should never of moved.

Mids. We literally have zero smart, quick outside players. MASSIVE problem. Its all in and under.

Defense. We have given 3 first round picks for guys that have played 4 games together. The others have either dropped off the planet (Hibbo) been hurt all year (Jetta) or have battled for little return (Omac).

Guys like Salem , Tracca and Gus should be locked down, fit and firing. Gawn and Clarry as well.

Leadership is non existent.

Its a mess ATM.

Our list is far better than it is showing.

There is discontent, so that tells me the Leaders are not leading. That is where you start.

The list can always be improved, but bad leaders must go

Buying players hasn't worked in the past. Tilbrook, Carmen, Ditterich and many more, none took us to finals. My guess is, May and Lever's big salaries have fractured the group. Not much joy out there for each other. Where is our camaraderie and gel? Seems it is manufactured by coaches saying great mates win games. I think respect needs to be genuine, that has disappeared. There seems to be groups within groups as they aren't doing the 1% nor helping each other to be better footballers.

Delivery of the football needs to be to the team-mates advantage. So many times we put the receiver under pressure or it is a clanger. No trust in each other. Where are the natural footballers, who is taking the game on, where is our creativity and magic.

Perhaps scrutiny of the mistakes at the review has shot their confidence. Too much finger pointing and complicated solutions. Coaches are not getting the best out of the players. We looked scared to get the ball or take the game on. Confidence is shot. Sometimes outward display of anger and frustration, is better than an intellectual response that gets in the head. They are full of anxiety.

Better to be the passenger. Players who don't have an impact are getting games, must be doing a role set by the coach.

Let's hope this brand of football changes to a culture of winning.

Yes I am still alive but on a well deserved sojourn in Europe. Have been away since July 20 and not won since!

I would also look at May Lever and MacDonald (Tom) as leadership group options.

Rule nothing in snd rule nothing out but yes our leadership has been appalling this year And the players support virtually non-existent. But Macy has been our sole leader in a nightmare year.

We’ve sorely missed an in-form T Mac and then an absent T Mac.

When he finally came good in round 14, he was chiefly responsible for our Freo and Carlton wins.

He is a high quality key forward who is one of the best marks of the game, and our forward line has absolutely fallen apart post his absence (see last night’s disaster).

I agree we need to have a look at Josh Jenkins and if gets a game over Weideman who (generally) doesn’t impact a game of footy at all, then so be it.

Our forward line is the main reason we’re on a 6 game losing streak. The club will be derelict in their duties if they ever put out a forward line like that again (aside from next week.)

Number 1,2 & 3 is how do we handball to a players advantage and in space.. our greatest issue is the loopy, missed hospital handpass. Was on display last night. Need to watch the bulldogs more closely

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
