How can those in charge of the AFL sleep at night with the west coast free kicks massively skewed in their favour when they play at home?

They don't care. Still assign the same biased Eagles supporting umpires to their games.

Don't you love the way the article is framed around West Coast and Collingwood getting a dream run, but it contains no mention about Melbourne getting slaughtered by the muppets.

And although the data reveals that the Bulldogs get a dream run, it overlooks the fact that head-to-head since 1997, it is Melbourne 23 frees Bulldogs 3,194 frees.  I would have thought that a noteworthy stat.

By the look of that there will be no free kicks tonight.

Afl not biased... hahahahahahahahaahahah

Can we change the headline to "AFL bias Confirmation" pls mods

And people dispute the fact the doggies were handed their flag on a platter.

It was a good narrative for the AFL for a little club to win the flag. Never mind all the gifts it took to happen.

Looking at those stats I think the AFL will be on the phone to the head of umpiring about the treatment of GWS, not good enough for the love child.

Does confirm why I have been whinging all these years though!

Not surprising, often seen at our home games after a goal/free kick:

That the bias in favour of West Coast has been sustained over such an long period is just completely horrifying.

My first thought glancing acros the lists was to wonder to what extent it has ebbed and flowed within that 22 year period. Some years North did very well, some the Bulldogs scooped the free kicks.

This season, for example, the Magpies are a mile out in 'first place' for free-kick differential, followed by the Bulldogs and Crows. Last season it was Magpies, North and the Eagles.

It would also be interesting, but too much work for an amateur, to pick apart how much individual players affect the team balance of free kicks.

Lance Franklin, particularly in his Hawthorn days, was notorious for giving away frees, even cracking 3/game in 2008.

Joel Selwood only managed a measely equal 12th finish in his debut season, but has made up for it by finishing first in 7 seasons since then and never, ever, being outside the top 3.

Having said all that, I think the free kick stats at footywire.com must be all messed up or something, because I can hardly see Adam Goodes anywhere...

If we were a good team free kicks wouldn’t matter.

Just play the game. (If only we could)

A deeper analysis of which umpires were officiating would be "interesting" to say the least.

Were the AFL genuinely fighting  corruption of the results, or even a perception of the results, then  they would never schedule those "mates of the Eagles" to Eagles home games .... never.

However they continue to do so, and it seems always when we play there.

The old saying that justice not only needs to be done, but needs to be seen to be done is clearly something that Gil and his henchmen ru(i)nning the AFL have heard of.

The place looks packed.
Too many there.
