So little idea...

Not all players can be elite (by definition) but that doesnโ€™t discount a player from being a good fit for your system and filling a key role.

The bloke does not have the ability to fill a key role.ย

My concern is that in four finals he didn't really show much at all and isn't that the stage/place you are expecting any player to stand up a little?

Also the Tigers get creative and go after Pickett.ย  We pick up the usual medium non speedy type in Dunkley who, yes needs more time and i still think he will be ok, but out of the two we need outside run, bit ofย class and finish (Pickett) yet choose the slower more inside / gruntier type (again) ??

How are we ever going to bridge the gap on clubs that are already 10 goals ahead (roughly) every time we play them when we keep choosing more grunty meat & potatoe types that have no excitement on the outside, can't break lines and relatively sluggish movers?ย  Don't we have enough already?

Surely we canย get a little moreย creative / daring for a change andย  try to pick up a mature Pickett / Jurrah type from somewhere who has X factor and can make a difference in big matches???

We haven't been bold enough with our recruiting since the Jurrah saga. Continue to play it safe with private school boys instead.

Sydney Stack, Marlion Pickett, Liam Ryan are just perfect examples who we've had the opportunity to select.

Hey DD.ย  Well I would have recruited pickett and personally had the ability to handle him. I would have had Nic nat over Watts, would never have fallen for all the other recruiters bluff with Scully and Trengove, just one of the two small men. One look at Toumpas was enough to see nothing. Tyson and Salem was a no again.ย  And its a no to Thomlinson in our hour of need for speed, skill and creativity with the ball. And I would definetely not fallen for Goodwins cheat sheets at interview. Does he mentor Greta Thunberg.

Please, tell us the top 25 picks in this year's draft? You're the expert. The first 2 are obvious.ย

From Sam Edmundโ€™s articleย in the Sun today โ€œTomlinson has just played his last match for the Giants as he seeks a trade to a Melbourne club. He has what morher Kaye calls a โ€˜double sadnessโ€™. โ€œIts his last game for the Giants. Heโ€™sย leaving his wonderful friends and this wonderfulย clubโ€ Mrs Tomlinson saysโ€.

Not interested in 23 of them. We need to pick 2 of them. I dont agree with Anderson as a lock in. Our second round with go for Langdon but that is un inspiriring and a needless addition of a ponytail.

Fair to say then that youโ€™re not happy with them getting a game in the seniors then?

Weโ€™re simply upgrading these types of players that you have said yourself that you wouldnโ€™t recruit. Surely Tomlinson is a better option than them?ย

Here are the contact details, may as well hand in your resume for a development coach role. We should have saved the coin spent on Richardson and got yourselfย instead

Close to the dumbest reasoning I have seen. What were their odds last week? (hint: they were bigger outsiders than this week)

IMO GWS were beat up, Whitfield playing after having hisย appendix out was a massive red flag, ( If you have had your appendix out you would understand the playing discomfort) Davis was on one leg, Mummy a complete liability.

GWS played there Grand Final against the pies, and another close game against the Lions.

3rd week of travel, only a mug would have thought it was going to be close. Looks like you fall into that category Wattsy. Never going to be close.

The screenshot was just a reminder not a reason, that i put my money where my mouth is.

We have to replace the players weโ€™ve already delisted and thereโ€™llย be more who leave. Since we canโ€™t replace them all from the draft, who would you bring in that we donโ€™t have to trade for JR?

For free, he is a good get for our side.

He's not a free hit though 'Wise', he's going to take some cap space and he also takes a spot on the list.

A nice public school boy who plays nice football.

In terms of bringing in a bloke who is AFL ready and has been in the system for years then, yes, to me that's a free hit.ย  You don't find them in the draft.

ย

What other free agents are a good age for us, fill some needs, don't want huge overs and are willing to come to the 17th placed side?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
