Looked at the ladder today and we're only 4 games + percentage behind Adelaide who are in the 8. If we win our last 4 and everyone from 16 - 8th lose all of their remaining games and we can make up 20% percentage we could still theoretically play finals. Throw in a couple of doping investigations and we will rocket into the 8 and as the doggies demonstrated in 2016 and with May, Tmac, Weid, Jetta, Vanders, J Smith to come back in the remaining rounds anything is possible. Stay positive!

Sorry mate, Adelaide and the dogs play in the last round, so even with a draw one of them will be above us. Looking good for 9th though

What if both sides play so bad that they both lose?

Kind of like when Essendon fly to a JLT match in regional Victoria. There is a precedent.

I'm thinking the mass disqualification route. Would need to be a good one to knock out 10 clubs :(

To be honest, this thread is a humerous breath of fresh air around these parts.

Snowflake's hope in hell, though.... ?

Absolutely, I considered including an accident like a plane crash or a bus down a ravine as a scenario but that would have been in poor taste.

Yes perhaps in poor taste but how about Mebourne on the road. A minor pandemic hits Melbourne (no deaths) but the city is quarantined.

Only the interstate teams and Melbourne can play and all finals are moved to Alice Springs. (Alice in Wonderland allegories appreciated.)

As there are 8 interstate teams we would need to knock GC off somehow.

There are probably TV shows with stranger plots !

Have a few spare membership barcodes if anyone is keen.

That would have to happen in the final round when we play North overseas in Tassie.

Fantasic news if we can make it to 9th IMO.

Look at what happened to Richmond after finishing 9th a few times...

PREMIERSHIP CUP HERE WE COME!!!

In seriousness, I'm looking forward to tonights game. Kids in bed, wife out for dinner with our eldest and me with a couple of glasses or red to watch what we are trying to do with no expectations.

Yes. And OMac will win the Brownlow.

Unfortunately we passed into the sad realms of "Mathematical Impossibility" last round.

Our maximum possible number of wins is 9.

Crows, Port and Bulldogs all currently on nine must win no more games.

Crows play the Bulldogs.

Oops, yeah, what he said. Right on the money, actually, we could, conceivably, make 9th.

All it would take is for two teams to win no more games and a further five teams to only win one game each at most, including of course the issue of games against others int he same group.

I would be, hmm, satisfied isn't the word... if we were able to pass Sydney and also finish with our perfomance after the bye round being ahead of Collingwood.

Come to think of it, we could have a shot at injury-pillaged Magpies, Sydney on a bad day, and Kangaroos for an end of season laugh.

Do that and we could even slip ahead of St Kilda on percentage, provided they win no more games.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN THE SEASON IS OVER THIS IS ALL JUST PRESEASON FOR 2020.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
