Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pert will have us positioned somewhere between Melbourne and Perth.

Dud.

Why does he go on triple m and talk about our game plan? He was removed from Collingwood for having too much involvement with the football department.

He should be getting us the football facilities we need as CEO. Needs to learn his position.

He certainly wasn't a dud as a player. He would not have lasted 11 years at Collingwood as CEO if he was a dud, during that time they were successful on and off the field.I'm quite sure he he is well aware of his position at the MFC. Who do you think you are suggesting someone needs to learn their position.

Building over the rail lines would be $$$ but probably the most logical choice. All of that space that could be utilised and the NIMBYS wouldn’t be able to do a thing about it. It would simply add to the MCG sporting precinct.

Government land so need approvals. The Andrews Gov is against the plan.

you win dc?

My original point was we won't be moving the club to Casey as (several hundred) admin staff (who live in all parts of Melbourne and often rely on public transport) would be more affected than players.  Still think that, even if it takes players an hour several times a week to get there.   Casey is not an option for a whole of club venue.

this i agree with. but i would like to know what the dorks will be doing at berwick. even though berwick is a little bit closer it is still a long trip and only getting worse

Correct I would add all parties are against the plan. Also interesting that the MCC have never to my knowledge said anything about the plan.

What annoys me about our indecision is that the Hawks will build at Dingley and quickly become the favourite of that whole area of the metro area and the Dees  will still be dreaming of a home near the G.

success on the field over a long time gives them advantages we don't have

they can play lots of home games in tassie and move the club to the boondocks and still the members keep climbing.......just because they are guaranteed winners

Could not agree more.

Our indecision over half a century dc has us in our current position I.e. No flags and no home.

Will We ever make a decision and go with it 100%?

I think the poster meant the rail yards between the 'G' and the tennis centre.

I don't think Andrews has an opinion on this let alone being against it...

Covering the railyards has been the mythical solution for so long it's akin to finding the North West Passage.

To suggest that a Government would allow the significant rail disruption for a football club admin centre is just not on.

It would need to be part of something much bigger and it would be twenty years in the making.

If you want a left field solution how about an underground cut and cover facility in Yarra Park. Would probably fail due to the above ground trees but that's the kind of thing... and it needs to be green with cutting edge community benefits etc etc

Serious Research needs to be undertaken.

Gotta spend money to make money

This is what Gutnick did not do

Under PJ's reign it was done, they spent over $100k on a study of everything within 10 km of the G.

result nothing was of suitable size.

That is what hatched the Yarra park dream.

The simple fact is there is no land available in inner melbourne except for the docklands.

IMO it is the docklands or outer surburbs.

That would make the Hawks plan at Dingley look cheap at $100 million.

Yes that is your opinion. We all know it

But everything has a price, if we want to build near the ‘G it will cost $$$’s.

You want an answer tomorrow, but i am prepared to be patient to find the right place

Why is that a problem DV8?

The players, staff and FD won't be arriving by train and it is no further than current from train stations. The members will only be there very occasionally if ever.

Having our own home base is most important for our supporters connection to the club/team.  this is why a home base is SO important.

This is what grows a club and produces fan loyalty and the connection between players and fans and the kids.

this is what keeps the players feet on the ground, "earthed".

When the team/players win,  they spread the  joy at the club and receive it back from the supporters. promoting energy for all.  When the players are on a losing trot,  the emotions they receive from fawning kiddies helps to lift them from wallowing in self pity.

All in all its a natural healthy interaction between players with plenty,  and supporters with little...  It helps to address any imbalances in players focus.  Maintaining a Communal feel.

Gives them something tangible to fight for (others less fortunate),   rather then a self-driven exercise.   If your getting beaten up on, sometimes its easier to backaway,  than to keep on fighting...  but when your fighting for someone else's welfare,  it becomes a whole different scene.  especially for kiddies and for the more vulnerable.

This is what the club has missed since the 60's.

... that communal feel of fighting for a higher reason.    $$$$ just don't cut it... without that emotional charge to get through the highs and the Lows... and to keep on going when others give up.

huh? jolimont couldn't be more than 5 mins walk max.

You want the station adjoining the building...  to get those who are in-between, should i go home now (from work)...  or should I drop in to the club, same on match-days.  before and after.

Every little bit helps,  'dc'.

Do you drive to games,  or taxi,  or tram ???

even flinders st station would just be a stroll

...  now what about the people who are carrying stuff from the game and with kids,  who have to jump on a train and get to say, Pakenham, or Seymour...  Or uncle bitters with his handbag full of makeup and trinkets,  who has to get to Romsey ?

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
