The Casey Demons will continue their 2019 campaign under a new coach. Demon fans might recall Sam Radford as a courageous Zebra who suffered a bad injury in the early days of Melbourne’s alignment with Sandringham. Radford replaces Jade Rawlings who is back with the AFL Demons after a coaching reshuffle at Melbourne.

Casey takes on Coburg away from home on Sunday.

Casey 2 games back from the bottom half of the top 8 and Coburg are struggling with 1 win from 10 outings. A must win game for Casey if they are to give themselves a chance and staying in arms length of the top 8.

New coach will be interesting.

Looking forward to heading to Coburg on Sunday. One of my favourite grounds for viewing football.

In the interest of culinary reporting I am determined to try some of the local brewing company's product. I see from their website they have one called Pentridge Pale Ale which sounds like a nice drop.

On the game Casey should have a very strong MFC contingent with injuries comparatively low and no hold over emergencies due to the AFL game being on Saturday.

I played cricket there for Sunshine against Coburg round the time they hanged Ryan. The umpire gave me out LBW when I plainly wasn't out, even the bowler admitted it after the game, but the next week my captain dropped me way down the batting list again and said I'd had my chance against Coburg.

Went in to Pentridge as part of my job when very young... my memory is of a cold bluestone courtyard with lots of bored men standing around. Mind you in later years I did envy their vegetable garden.

Sadly I cannot go on Sunday DJ. Tried Coburg lager last year which was quite nice. Enjoy!

Loved the 1979 GF.

VFA with characters like Phil Cleary, Freddie Cook and Frosty Miller was a great Sunday afternoon

Great memories.

People tend to forget how big the VFA was in its heyday. By pioneering live TV coverage of its games it rivalled the VFL for a while. Hard to put a finger on why it all fell away but can probably be traced to when the AFL/VFL moved from being controlled by the clubs to its commission system of management.

And, they used to play with only 16 players per side on the ground, with no wings.  Wonder if the AFL have ever considered that as part of a congestion-busting strategy?

I hope the Casey Radio truck gets there nice and early and finds a good spot to avoid being bogged again.

Part of its appeal was the prospect of a weekly blood bath. Yes, they watched it for the Eddie Melais, the Harpers etc .Haymakers incorporated.

I remember our own Bob Johnson - playing for Oakleigh - terrorising VFA sides in the 60s when Melbourne had no forward line.

Walking distance to my place, I have no excuse to not head down there.

All AFL midfield should get us over the line but we are a bit think up fwd and down back

Where is Oscar?

Precisely. Absolute silence from the MFC about his disappearance. I suspect the worst, namely he's not doing too well. If that's the case I wish him all the best and I have no doubt the armchair experts on this site, the same manic naysayers who comment on and foretell the worst case scenario on gameday posts would have contributed to any lack of confidence he might be experiencing.

Not wanting to pile on. Saw him at Queens Birthday so still around the club doing functions. Didn’t seem to be struggling moving so have no idea at all.

Him at Sam Frost attended a coterie function today, so he is still around the club.

So why no mention from MFC about his absence? He's certainly not on an injury list.

Oscar McDonald must be the “mystery” this week.  Probably got injured sharpening a pencil !!!

Needs to play to show “any” ability.  I have him in the doubtful list for 2020.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
