Goody does sound a bit short of breath. But gees I love the message and focus he has.

All those baggers out there can get stuffed.

With ya and Goody here. I reckon we are in for a great ride in 2nd half with, I hope May, Salem, Hore and Lever back plus Hannan better for run, Weid starting to show a bit and encouraging signs from Smith and Brayshaw getting back into it a bit. Strap yourselves in Demonlanders. Season starts Monday for me.

I did say hopefully not, did I not?

Similar symptoms twice in 2 weeks? I think there’s a legitimate reason to be a little concerned for our coach.

Yes, we probably are desperate, but that indicates to me that the club still think we are a shot for finals action, or the risks just wouldnt be worth it. I hope they end up being right ofc, but cant see us making it unfortunately.

Rushing players back from long breaks (without games in the 2's to find some form) almost never works out well.

Especially in huge game like Mondays will be.

Look,  at our best we know we can compete. And although our percentage is a good reflection of how we've been belted, we also should have beaten both west coast and adelaide, which would put us in a much better position. The last month has been nothing like the first, even if the results aren't any better.

In an even year it's not ridiculous to think we can turn it around and have a dip, and a late season rally will do wonders for confidence and attracting recruits, compared to more of the same.

Finally the more games we get with Lever and May together, learning to play together, the better we'll be next year.

is it just me or does his voice sound a bit shaky/nervous at times?

This stood out to me too and I reckon he was a bit emotional re Neale Daniher question at the start but settled after a bit.

Wow.  Dr Kildare to emergency!  Talk about pulling the proverbial pud.  Sounded fine to me.  Answered questions, stuck to his ‘talking points’, didnt fall over when he got up to escape.  Imagine if he farted, people would think he was about to die!  Come on.

Some of you choose to ignore it and others are obviously unable to recognise it but Goodwin is struggling at the moment.

The pressure he is under in that job is enormous.

Stating as a fact what is nothing but speculation.

I think he was struggling early in the season. That we've played better football with a mounting injury list has probably improved his confidence. but he was undoubtedly struggling for answers early.

Hey, to all those Docs on this thread, and there's obviously many, can one of you look at this nasty boil on my butt, I think it's having a panic attack...

FMD!

We’ll see.

It’s an opinion for sure but one that’s coming from experience.

The indicators are there for all to see apart from people like yourself.

I'm no doctor but i doubt the boil is causing the panic attack. Unless you are perhaps a stripper and you are worried the boil wipl be seen by your audience. That  might cause some performance anxiety.

Following the dees is my diagnosis.

I think he is just very emotionally invested in the club eg

  • In yesterday's video his voice gets shaky when asked about Lever's return.  A few weeks ago it became shaky when asked about the return of key players.  Both times it sounded like relief.
  • His emotional reaction to the Sydney win (choked up a little) and (iirc) the Hawks win which is uncharacteristic (in a good way) of the usual calm persona.

He said after the 'dizzy' spell a few weeks ago that the people around him advised to take it easy and look after himself.  Maybe he has just been working too hard, too selflessly.

Last week Mahoney and Chaplin took the pregame radio interviews in SA.  Pure speculation but it looked to me the club was trying to spread the workload.  It is not unusual for clubs to do this.  Thompson at Geelong and Hardwick at Richmond come to mind.

He will be fine.  I'm sure the bye will be a welcome break, especially if we are really competitive vs the pies.

You should be a doctor, Binny. Performance anxiety sounds spot on!

It may well be however no need being a defeatist and I look forward to us playing plenty of good footy in the back half and give it to as many teams as possible that are aiming for finals.

In addition unless your in you late 80's appreciate if you do not call me son!

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
