On that basis Troy are you suggesting we would be better of trading out our recruiting team rather than Tracc ??

Yes

We should definitely trade Petracca he should be in the centre right now but he isn't because he doesn't have a tank. He hasn't got one even he admits that and it's not something that can happen over night. We should have DeGoey what a blunder.

Isn't amazing, we have a few losses and we target one player. Lets goo through them :

Tmac, Watts, Omac (flavour OTM even when we & he are playing well, Weid (Still developing , last year was 3rd forward , this year (last week) No 1 fwd)

I get frustrated with Trac too, but there are a lot more frustrations at the moment . He is still getting 15-20 possessions a game in a disfunctioning side.

On Tracs current form you are only probably netting a return of 50c on the dollar if you trade him this year. He is the sort of player who will make you pay for selling him low. Would rather let him figure it out this season and build some form. He is capable and he will improve.

Me too. There has been far too many [censored] who come on here and just talk trash just to get notice.

When we are having a [censored] year they just swarm. We didn't see these nuffies last year in the back end of the year when we were having success.

This to me sounds like it’s trash because you don’t agree . It’s good to have different opinions and viewpoints and doesn’t necessarily indicate trash or newcomer-ness

Fair suck of the savaloy @WERRIDEE, it's repeated ad nauseam - drafting is ALWAYS a lottery, some come on better, and some come on worse than expected.

Although, in the interest of fairness, perhaps you can start a topic on your best 22 that we 'should' have had, instead of our current best 22? That'll keep us all occupied until 2019 season is over...

Different types of player. Patton can be the Hogan replacement we need. Straighten up the side, bust packs, kick goals, make everyone in the forward arc walk taller. Watch Weid blossom with The General taking heat off him.

Petracca is a ‘cream on top’ player and an overrated one at that.

Patton makes us structurally a better side. Changes the whole complexion of the team. He’s a game changer.

Which is why Clarkson has earmarked him as Roughead’s long term replacement.

Petracca out to facilitate Patton in is about putting us back into contention as early as next season.

Anyone who thinks we can roll the dice again on the same forward structure is living in deep denial.

Irrespective of tracca...  IF we had Patton in, with Weide, then TMc plays high...  or could even be a luxury on a wing.  IF he was fully functioning, fully fit,  with his feet and body.

If Patton was on this years list.... >

FF/ Preuss/Patton,  Weide,  Garlett/Hunt

HF/ Hannan, TMc,  AVB

CL/ Lockhart, Brayshaw, Melksham

HB/ Hibberd, Lever, Salem

FB/ Hore, May, Jetta

Fll/ Gawn, Olive, Harmes

Viney, Fritsch, Stretch, Sparrow,

Yep lets trade petracca for a bloke that has already had 3 knee construction, and not currently playing.. wow... we already have our own issues with our other big name recruits in May and Lever who cant even get on the park due to injuries.

Some of these same people who want Petracca traded are also thick and clearly have short memories because his 2nd year of AFL football where he was averaging 18 disposals and kicked 22 goals back in 2017. Then last year he was averaging 21 disposals per game and kicked 24 goals.

He is going through a rut like 18 other players on our list. Its a good learning curve for him and i am sure Goodwin will encourage him to find a way out and also put in some support around him to help him get through that.

Mark my words, he will find form because he is CLEARLY a talented individual and he will go on to become a very very good player for us.

Petracca has talent & strength & just needs to get his aerobic capacity right to help with 2nd & 3rd efforts .. I’ve posted our fitness & conditioning this year is not tight too many players look fatigued  vs last year ..

Petracca was the same last year.  He was just in slightly better form because he was playing in a better team, than this season.

He was lazy last year as well.   It just didn't stand out so much,  because people were watching the whole side performing well.

Petracca has been like the boy next door.   just popular for the sake of it...   the truck... truck indeed,  he's currently more like a street sweeper.

He has been spoilt so far,  at Mfc.

Sorry, but 16 touches and a goal a game from a super hyped no.2 draft pick in his 5th season is a manifestly pathetic outcome.

Rubbish. DeGoey was there they knew Petracca didn't have a tank. Bad selection the worst selection we have ever done. The draft isn't a lottery the best players get picked first. It's criminal to stuff up early picks and we always do it with the exception of Oliver and Brayshaw. Who funnily enough have tanks. Petracca is a bust a poor man's Sylvia.

You are entitled to an opinion, but his current stats aren't an indicator of his future performance. You might be underwhelmed, but reality is that all 18 clubs would have taken him top 2 which suggests most recruiters believe he has the tools to make it.

Flipping him for pick 20-25 isn't likely to be a step forward.

I've repeatedly said a pick between 10-20, not 20-25.

I believe we can get a first rounder for him now while he still has cache. Say for argument's sake Port come to us with an offer of pick 13 for him, we would be mad not entertain it if we thought we could parlay it into something more valuable to our list structure. Mad as hatters.

At that time we were looking for big bodied Mids.   We were too blinkered IMO, in that approach.   I've been wanting us to recruit rover types,  and centreline types with speed and some 'GO' in them.

Truth is teams need versatility,  in all shapes and sizes of players...  and foot speed is always of value.   As long as it's accompanied with courage and a brain.

Hindsight.

The market placed DeGoey's value at pick 5; Jarrod Pickett was taken at pick 4.

The best players do not get picked first; it's an educated guess.  Paddy McCartin went number 1... he is far from the best of the draft.

I like your thinking but who will give us that pick? He's a bust like Watts. He should be a midfielder and he's not and that is a disgrace.

It is a crap thread, they will not trade Petracca and you are just overreacting to the teams performance singling  out one player. Other than that not afraid of anything in this world

Look where Collingwood are getting there picks right and where St.Kilda and Carlton are for getting them wrong.

Called the Watts trade well before it happened.

Called the Hogan trade well before it happened.

Heard similar choruses of "it's not happening" "never" "no way" "you've got no idea" etc etc

Watch this space.

So anyone who has an ordinary game you just create a thread for them getting traded. Ha wow...

I will happily watch this space knowing Petracca will havve a 10 year career for this football club.

Hang on, how did you call the Watts trade when you only joined demonland September 2018?

I smell a rat

As supporters, we should support!

Talking about trading players when we're losing, is a bit like backst#%@&ng.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
