They're fulfilling their finals-filler fate by landing in an away final to get monstered by GWS

Glorious outcome. Hopefully puts GC out of contention for a PP. Between Day signing and this performance, they have another 40 odd years to reach diabolical Melbourne type levels and hence gain a PP

Thoughts on Liam Baker from the Toiges?

I read a few clubs are circling and asking the question as he weighs up his future. Been shifted to the backline the last couple of weeks due to Richmond’s depth up forward.

I think he will either go to Freo as they've shown interest (He's from WA) or stay at Toigs.

Bit left field, but I’d be like to see us go grab an Irish Gaelic footballer. Not because we have a connection to it as the first side, or because of Stynes, but because there is evidence to suggest that guys can convert with great success. They are hard at it pacey types. I guess the knock on them is the ball use and getting used to the oval ball. However, it doesn’t cost you much and you can place them on the special rookie list. I’d be sniffing around the GAA. I know Nick Walsh (who played for Melbourne circa 2001-2001) and who had worked with GWS, is back in Melbourne and still scouts the Irish prospects. I’d be employing his services. I’d love a Zac Tuohy or McKenna type.

Years ago we traded away pick 2 and missed Josh Kelly.

If we do the same this year, history will repeat as Anderson is every bit as naturally gifted as Kelly. Do we really want to make that same mistake? No offense to Salem, but I’d rather a crack at a potential superstar than a average-good player again. Our list needs more young elite talent. We haven’t draft any elite young talent for 4 years now, they’ve all been battlers and role players.

@Lord Travis We would have taken Billings. (Agree with the rest of your post)

desperately need a second key forward target to take the pressure off McDonald. need to open up the war chest and chase a big name here.

Either way, we had the chance to take Kelly and missed it. Yes even if we did take Billing’s I would still be posting this.

I'll be absolutely ropeable if we trade pick 2. Anderson is as an absolute beauty and need to continue to balance our list with more fresh young talent coming through.

Plus i would say he's capable of having an impact next year, we'd have to get a legitimate superstar to even considering offering up pick 2 or a package of 2-3 very good players covering several needs in one hit.

@dazzledavey36, what are your thoughts as to whether or not Rowell is an absolute lock at pick 1?

Without knowing a thing about the next crop, what sort of player is Anderson? I know he's a mid but is he a big bodied mid? Silky? Quick? What?

If going on that ugly "P" word, potential, i'd have Anderson ahead of Rowell by some distance, however Rowell has more runs on the board at this stage to be worthy of the #1 pick.

He would be a "safer" bet as #1 pick, but i wouldn't be surprised if Anderson was chosen at pick 1.

Either way, it is unrealistic that either would be able to help push us back up the ladder next year.

So he's a good kick and decision maker, and can take a mark, but not particularly quick?

Anderson is a good kick, good decision maker, good mark, hits the scoreboard regularly, plays mid or forward, smaller than Bont at 189cm but has more of a burst of pace. Match winner. Stands up in big moments when game is on the line. Very exciting prospect and I’ve been super keen on him all year!

Rowell safe bet but lower ceiling, similar to Sam Walsh but more inside. Certain to be a good player, but unlikely to be great.

I know this has been said, but at the time many were touting Kelly as a certain future star and potential Brownlow medalist. Billings was touted as a player with enormous potential.

Roos was looking at instant impact and lets be honest Roos is about Roos so highly likely to come back with less criticism if you say we wouldn't have taken Kelly anyway and making it a Salem/Tyson vs Billings debate as opposed to Salem/Tyson vs Kelly

Would Angus Brayshaw be up for trade if the right offer came along lets say he netted us Brad Hill & Langdon somehow?

Would have to be a first rounder or no deal. But i don't think anyone wants to pay a first rounder for him. I'd only sacrifice Brayshaw if we go big on Coniglio.

Not sure Coniglio is the type that we want. but i think we have too many of Gus type in the side, we know with his concussion issues he's maybe one bad hit away from being done, and he's got significant trade value. i personally think it's the kind of brave choice they should consider

Coniglio is an elite mid with good skills and a goal threat. He's also at a point in his career where he ain't going to cost the house to get him pick wise (will command 1m a yr but moving Lewis, Garlett and Brayshaw on will give us more than enough room).

I don't think Brayshaw is a problem and would be happy to keep him but we all know our problems in midfield is we have too much of the same. If we want speed and skill we won't get it without moving on of them on and i only see him and Oliver having any trade value right now. So lets be real here, a decisions between Brayshaw and Oliver isn't really a decision.

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
