Instead of finding this comforting, it's making me feel more anxious that we will look even worse than we already do if we lose to Sydney.

    He is a weapon in the area we suck at. Everyone we have lost to this season has killed us transitioning the ball out of our forward line and into their own.

    Never confident whenever we play a side with a big out...  never seems to go our way, like first gamers tearing us apart.  Often embarrassing.

    First round vs Port. They had about five top liners out!

    We know how that ended.

    WE have too many injuries, a suspect game plan under 666 and too many players with lost form. On a ground where we almost never win that is in bad shape, imagine how we will slip and slide.

    Think 2020 when we have a chance at the SCG.

    Got a mate of mine who lives in Sydney, he says the ground resembles and plays like any suburban ground in a non descript outland suburb and says it is far from being suitable for any form of sport at present!

    That must be worrying for the AFL??

    Why picket?  the same number will go to the ground and the same number will watch on TV no matter what the ground condition. That is what fills their coffers. If one game over the weekend looks poor or a player suffers a long term injury then too bad. Does not matter in the overall scheme of things.

    Tom Morris (3AW) confirmed that the game will go ahead even if the stadium is deemed unsafe, because they don’t have a contingency plan.

    Could’ve sworn GWS play at another stadium in Sydney....

    On a good day it holds 20k, facilities ordinary and no Swans signage .

    And in the end the afl could not care less.

    I booked flights (for me and my son) for this match a month ago.

    Given the above comments, and the team's start to the season ... I can hardly wait.

    • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

      Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
