Pert sounds too much like Robert Walls for my liking.

Wall was a Melbourne supporter as a kid.

Feels like we have a lot of weapons in the forward half now. Preuss looks like a handful and throw Joel Smith in there, there's a lot for the coaching staff to work with on top of what we already had.

Hunt has been impressive off half back.

Really pleasing to see. Terrific game so far by Hunt. He looks really composed with ball in hand.

Yep, in a game where, understandably, players having been getting up to speed, Hunt has been lowering his eyes quite well.

Pert interview interesting.

Speaking about the stream he said fans want content, access and an inside perspective and they are going to provide that this year. Perhaps he hasn't sent the memo to his comms team yet but situation sounds positive

Unfortunately I don't think Jeffy and JKH will feature much in 2019. I hope I'm wrong.

Bit hard on JKH, had plenty of touches and disposal has been ok.

Garlett showing bugger all so far.

Hunt’s performance so far looks very encouraging.. the Hunt of old perhaps.

Have just dipped in and out of the Live Stream intermittently. Four players seem to be involved whenever I take a quick look - JKH, VDB, ANB and Hunt.  However, primarily because of the low angle of the cameras, it's almost impossible to work out whether their disposals are productive.

It is a fantastic atmosphere down here - I’d guess around up to 5000 here?

Really impressed by Trac and Harmes at ground level, JKH busy in the second term in particular, Preuss excellent in the air, and Hunt running hard but his kicking leaves a bit to be desired, Lewis and Hore very calm and composed down back

Wouldn't mind seeing some camera work to show the set-ups at centre bounce under the new rules.

Also, how far can players run for the point kick ins?  I thought there was going to be a big 'square' around the traditional one.  Couldn't see any markings so will the umpires be guessing how far players run?

On the new kick-in rule,  Max and Preuss doing well marking from the kick-ins.  It seems we have a set-up down field, depending on who kicks in.  I think we are working well with that new rule.

That little checked kick by Hunt to find a target inside 50. He looks on this season. Would have blazed away previously.

How great must it be to have facilities like these.

We really lag behind the comp big time in that regard. Hope our leadership fix this soon.

What a great training ground this is.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
