Seriously scary.

With all this off-season eulogising and "monster" myth making about the new recruits in particular Brandon Preuss, well before the advent of the real stuff. When will the hype actually meet the  reality or the reality meet the hype?  Seems more than a whiff of bathwater out there post 2018.

5 drops of sinister sauce ...

... and now for a tincture of tenderness

because without a touch of tenderness

                                                                 it might deestroy me

                                                                 oops too much!

I dunno whether i care how big Preuss is, i want to see him in half a dozen continuous Senior Games first......

True. We had a John Meesen and a James Sellar once. They were monsters of the "Herman Munster" ilk. We want Michael from Halloween.

Milton the Monster?

To answer the question re rules, the players have instruction of every facet, fitness, diet, health etc etc

Any extra has been cleared with the club

They all have individually tailored programs

Tommy Mac has been 'instructed' whenever he can to walk barefoot, as it strengthens the foot and will help his toe

You know,  I'd settle for a fiery Murray Weideman type.

@Scoop Junior

Only an observation from Saturday’s session in which training was light and the players spent the session largely in positional groups, Fritsch was mainly in drills that consisted of small defenders. Spent some time with Salem, Jetta and Hunt working on basic defensive techniques, such as spoiling and killing the contest quickly.

As I said, this only from what I observed on Saturday, the regulars might be able to provide more from pre- Christmas sessions in regards to Fritsch.

Yeah, imahe that, 2 Weidemans running around, grandpa and grandson. Wouldn't that make Bruce salivate.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
