5, 23 and 30 reported on the AFL website. What do people think about that?

Slight topic diversion, but do we have any rumours of players we might be looking at drafting, trading for or picking up from a delisted club in the event of different situations, Or any personal suggestions on players?

  • Hogan is traded, May comes in. Another 3rd tall forward?

  • Hogan stays, May stays, Hold tight for a year? Or another KPD?

  • Or if Hogan stays. May signs with another club. Another KPD?

Unders for mine, but I trust the club.

Obviously Jesse seems to have checked out, so lets just get the deal done. Bring in May and some young kids.

Sam E reporting the dees are open to accepting only pick 5 in this trade....

It needs to be reiterated that 5 and 23 is a BETTER outcome than 10 and 16.

The first scenario represents a first and a second, while the second scenario is two firsts.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking it must be two firsts.

That would be disappointing.

I don't get too hung up on picks, as it's about outcomes and improving your list based on cards you're dealt, but that would be a poor outcome, imo.

That said, I didn't hear his comments and only have your interpretation to assess.

Is there any chance that Rankine kid will be available at pick 5 in the draft?

Next to none.

The AFL are once again shooting themselves in the foot by purposely holding off on trades going through until their 2 hour TV finale.

This is how you alienate the fans.

Not really, @Petraccattack-

The opposite of love isn't hate, it's apathy.

And you and everyone who is raging against the length of the trade period, will not give up your love for the game... you'll just pi$$ and moan about it. :)

According to whom?

Is it Freo saying it or Melbourne? It makes a huge difference.

Under for me but I would be a lot more accepting of it given Jason Taylor’s track record. I also feel like that would kind of equate to an equivalent of a middle range 1st rounder so falls inside the range of what we were asking.

Would be magnificent tbh. Our TMAC/WEID/Hogan forward line becomes ELITE in the Riewold/Lynch, Kennedy/Darling level. Lever & Omac have great years, we capitalize on all close matches unlike last year, and have a full tilt at a premiership from the top 2 with a 3 game MCG pathway in the finals despite defence still being one 'fragile' area of our game. Steven May holds out for one year and we pick him up next year in our quest to go back to back. All areas of our team become A+

Genuinely love your work overall JD.  But the clear problem with that plan is 3 vs 2 vs 2 tall forwards.  It's one too many for us.

Either out Hogan in May OR Hogan stays and plays back (or Weed does.  TMac no longer an option back - that's over)

Freo will be laughing if all they have to give up is pick 5, especially if they hold out on Neale and get more. I understand the outcome base idea but does that mean we just forget about the investment that we’ve placed in him? Personally I’d rather us hold onto him than take pick 5 (traded onto GC for May).

He is higher quality than May and that should bloody well be compensated.

Agreed ProDee.

I'm comfortable with 5 and 23 as I think we can make that work for us in some way such as a swap with the Crows.

Pick 5 by itself is massive unders in my view and would be a fail by Mahoney and Co., even if it nets May & KK.

There is being pragmatic and then being a pushover and this would be pushover levels. I was comfortable with the Lever deal last year as he is an outstanding talent and two later first round picks are different to a top 5 pick, but it is important we get fair valu for a player of Hogan's talent.

Wouldn't be surprised if that pick 5 goes directly to Adelaide for their pick 8 and 13. We then pass on pick 8 to Suns and go to the draft with pick 13. That would be a good result.

And by the way that would be two first rounders.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
