We may have just fed Barrett the 5 & 23 thing just to make Bell look even more stupid.

Uppercut and a right hook on the way out the door.

I definitely got the impression that Barrett was told directly from someone at Melbourne!

Goes both ways, Hogan now knows how highly we rate him

So just for a moment let's suppose Freo aren't the idiot incarnate.

They didn't even rate Hogan at a 1st and 2nd pick.

I must confess I agree..but am very surprised after all their courting they did a runner.

Makes me wonder why ?

Edit... that's exactly where I have Jesse..a first and second rounder

Not convinced, just making him stay.

Maybe they are trying to be the Magpies of the West. Support us or hate us. They have certainly moved up the ladder on my list.

Hope they stay anchored to the bottom of the AFL one.

I’m reading they have withdrawn from chasing Hogan now?  So that really makes this 289 pages of cheese.

It makes both parties look stupid imo. Funny how no one has mentioned that despite the whole forum being against 5+23 an hour ago.

I don’t really care what happens in this trade period now except for a burning desire for Neale to leave Fremantle so that those numnuts have an even weaker midfield to go with their D grade forward line.

Threaten to sit out 2019 Lachie!

Disrespectful to Jesse, that was their chance he's a demon for life.

Then too P&@@ freo off, come to the dee's, would love it!

I would say that we would have had 5+23 lined up to go to the crows for 8 + 14 thus getting our two first round picks.

Freo are cooked.

Grear news for us.

Simon Goodwin will put an arm around Jesse and welcome him back with open arms

Josh Mahoney should be applauded for standing his ground and being a professional operator compared to those amateurs.

Nowhelp us win a flag jesse!

About time we stood strong.  For Lever we blinked before we sighted the other car, and paid overs.  Graeme Wright and Clarko lead the industry by a country mile.

We need West Coast in a bidding war in 12-24 months anyway.

Roos sees Hogan as a CHB possibility to allow Weed and McDonald stay forward in the same team.  Might happen in 2019....who knows.

Honestly I think if they have turned down 5+23 then I want to thanks them. I would’ve been extremely pizzed off if we’d accepted that. Only way that gets done IMO is if they throw in their future second rounder as steak knives.

@hogan ..do not ask for whom the Bell tolls.....

This decision by Freo will put them at the back of the queue when they attempt to lure any quality player in the future. Their strategy for years now has been to bring home grown talent back to WA and this farcical outcome has severely damaged that strategy.

I'm pleased we still have Jesse but concerned we appear to miss out on May.

As a Perth Based Demon, I do feel the need to make a few comments.

Admittedly I do go to Eagles Games (Wife is a supporter, but loves the Dees too). I have many friends who support either the Dockers or WCE. What has become apparent is the Docker supporters are done. They do not match WCE in an area and many who jumped on the train to Freo in 1995, are now jumping off it.

  • On field they are a rabble
  • Off field they are not looking to flash
  • their trades over the past years have been questionable
  • their members have been told to pay more for their seats (a lot more as they stuffed up the cats at Optus
  • Members are not renewing memberships
  • The coach is hated
  • The players from what I understand are not big on Fyfe (rumour)

Unfortunately they had a chance to secure the one thing that has been missing for a long time at Freo. It goes to show that Freo lack any smarts. They drafted down, and didn't get what they wanted. Lobb is a good player but had they got Hogan aswell!

I personally am glad they never got him and for Jesse sake hope he has a stellar year next year as a Coleman Medalist and Premiership player.

Good luck to Freo and I hope the Dee's play them at the G or Optus next year so i can attend and enjoy Hogan kicking 7 goals against them and listening to their supporters moan and groan, all 12 of them!

Stuff them....we are in this

No one will line up to deal with them....move over Dodoro

I would be absolutely livid if I was Hogan.

Who the [censored] chases you over and over for 4 straight years, he finally sticks his neck out and takes a leap to join their club and they wont even pay 5 & 23? GAGF freo... you enjoy being [censored] forever

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
