If he has to leave I'd be more content if we bring in May ( Magic 8 Ball says: Most likely ), Kolodjashnij (Magic 8 Ball says: Most likely), a young Docker (Magic 8 Ball says: Outlook not so good ) and then Weideman and TMac not get injured (Magic 8 Ball says: Reply hazy, try again ).

Dr Cool can always go forward if needed. Yet to kick a goal in AFL football but i'm sure he would slay them up forward.

I heard Gil on Trade radio. Not ha huge Gil fan but i have to say he's gone up in my estimation.

A prickly Gil was beautifully dismissive of Sam 'i am an authoritative, respected and influential voice in football and my opinions carry much weight and gravitas ' Mcclure. Worth a listen.

Jesse Hogans last day in the red & blue...

first post in years. looks like we will have to get a deal done, a work colleague, she's a big dees fan, who's brother was in Bali with Jesse, from WA, good mates,  Jesse has said to him he will not sign a new deal with Melbourne if he isn't traded, he will walk end of next year, Freo are aware of this too, they just think his demands are too high. Sad really. So will it force us to take unders? Or Hold tight?  seems determined to go home.

Casey seconds might have a new power forward next year!! HaHa

my spider senses are tingling... just have a funny feeling there's a surprise yet in all of this..and not a bad one.

Tantalizingly possible, Bezel; I, too, think there is a big one there deliberately low-profiled, secreted away in some MFC mind to act as a compensatory finale.

This morning, just before the deadline, unless Jesse openly states before curtain-call that he wants to stay at the MFC to significantly contribute a role in the MFC winning a flag in 2019 - 2020, then he can leave as far as I am concerned - as he has been given everything to stay over the past few years, has not really produced the goods and has recently been petulant, easily led by his 'management' and may well have a longer-term navicular bone issue. He certainly has battled the odds but the MFC has repatriated him to the best of its (and anyone's) ability.

I'd want May, KK and a well-decided return of Lever, ASAP. I'd want a multipurpose Preuss to shake any opposition something fearful. I'd want Frost to step up another rung as a key focus of the pre-season developments. I'd want the suspected mystery man to be a gun.

Thanks tarzan. Seems a likely scenario. No extension and leave at end of contract.

I'd be okay with that because he would be totally shooting himself in the foot contract and pay wise if he didn't try to have the best season he possibly could. Might snag a flag befor e going, which he aint going to get at Freo in the foreseeable future.

Does your colleague have a sense that the key driver is wanting to live in Perth? Or is there something else in play (eg dissatisfaction with the MFC)?

I'm the complete opposite. Gil came across as a guy with the personality of the stick. He was asked a genuine question about what he thought of St.Kilda (as he supports them) and he didn't even have the personality to lighten up a bit. You could tell Dal and Sam were like 'errrr wtf'

Hey binman, great pun 'Shooting himself in the foot" by the way.  He just wants to go home now, he loves the Dees but going home was always a thing for him, the door was opened and as soon as he heard Melbourne were interested in a deal and he ran through,  she said he was pretty much never going to extend beyond this contract, barring maybe winning a flag he may have. there's a few other things I can't post on a public forum also. I agree, he must have a burning desire to go home if he's keen on freo!!!

You know the dees fans have lost the plot when people were more fired up about losing Watts than losing Hogan. lolz

I'd like them both.

I'm still intrigued about the request to trade our 2019 first rounder. Will we try and package this in a deal with Freo or Gold Coast or another club?

I'd prefer to get Shiel than May.

mmmm Shiel is just a bit over rated IMO....

I think May fills more of a need for us.

I go away from this thread for a few hours, and come back to the last page, which is about six pages further on from where I left off. The last page is the same as the last page I read six pages ago.

Groundhog Day.

So let’s try and win the flag in 2019. It may change his mind

I get what you're saying but the situations are a little bit different. If  the club was initiating and overtly shopping Jesse around and pushed out the door I'm sure there would be more hell to pay.

Also we are likely to get more back for Jesse than we did with Watts (pre-Fritsch inclusion and form).

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
