I've never wanted him to go, while I thought he was committed to the club.

Now it is clear that he is not committed, so I want him gone.

There is no point holding onto even the best players, if they are not firmly embedded in what you are trying to achieve.

If Hogan signs a 4 year extension and stays, and doesn't umms and errs about his future every year, I would be thrilled. But he has never done that, and we now have a chance to trade him to significantly better our list. It's time to go.

Could not agree more  Jaded

This has been an ongoing sore ever since We got Hoges

Best to finish and move on. By the way team balance is better without him

Hope Freo can make him happy and get him to lose the poor attitude and bad body language

I for one would rather he go

Freo trading pick 6 to Port for one of 10/11 and a pick in the 20s.

Assuming this goes down and then we do the Hogan deal which pick are we using to get May?

a) Freo's pick 5 or 6

b) Freo's pick 10 or 11?

Obviously b is much better because then we can use pick 5/6 on a top draft pick

Jesus, I thought trade period ended tomorrow.   This garbage goes for another week.

Only Gillon’s AFL could have a trade week that lasts two weeks, and a goal square that is an absurdly long rectangle.

His value seems to diminish by the day.

He is an absolute muppet.

I wish Dal would slap him

Should be two 1 rounds or nothing.

9 and 10 is good

9 and 20 with future 2 Nd rounder ok

Neale to brisbane for 5

hogan to freo 5, 10

Kent to saints for pick 39

Tyson, 10, + 39 - for may and KK

I won't listen to trade radio when he is on.

Mind you I've pretty much stopped listening to all of them.

Bartel is really the only one I don't mind listening to.

Agreed as long as 10 can be used for May.

The more I listen to or read what Sam McClure has to say the more I'm convinced he was intentionally dropped on his head as a baby.

No, you're now saying that instead of a Porsche I would get a Malvern Star.

I would want more than just pick 5, and we'll get more. It's the amount not that we differ on.

You originally wanted 3 low picks or no deal. I thought we'd get a low first rounder plus a later first rounder/equivalent player.

The main thing you are missing in these negotiations is opportunity cost. Are you willing to spend it on upgrading the second pick we get for Hogan, or are you willing to spend it on potential deals that may happen later in the trade period?

I think I said I would ask for 2 low picks and a player or another pick or whatever, but that was the opening price. Obviously that would then be negotiated down.

I have since posted  recently, about an hour ago,  that I actually don't care what the deal is, as long as we ended up with May, KK and pick 5.

We could then do what we wanted with pick 5.

What I would be upset about, is a May for Hogan deal with nothing else.

Of course I would be happy to upgrade our position. I am just not as in a hurry to fold and accept a poor offer as others on here.

There is still time to do deals and I think the FD have it in hand atm.

If we are at wednesday afternoon and nothing has happened, then that is a different scenario, which I am confident we would have prepared for with contingency plans.

If Hogan was a Carlton player McLure would be demanding two top 5 picks and a gun young player in return.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
