Opposition Watch: Elimination Final

Demonland

Recommended Posts

I can't wait until Friday! All over social media not only cat supporters but plenty non demons supporters are saying the cats will win conftorbaly, that we are soft, pretenders, weak mentally etc etc. But come Friday, although I am very nervous, our boys the demons will show everyone in a big Friday night game, that we are ferocious, strong, elegant, swift and future premiers.

I hate this mob, seriously I do,

All of them and the coach.

I want to beat them so bad

It's doing my head in.

I wish we were playing anyone but them.

Am I the only one, what is it about this team.

I hope we completely tear them a new one on friday night.

Yep I prefer being underdogs- Geelong are clutching on times past - I hope the umpires call what they see on the day, go Dees!!!

If you only read the heading then you would think he is a Richard head, but if you read the article...

GEELONG'S All Australian defender Tom Stewart expects many of Melbourne's September debutants to be extremely nervous as they lace up for their first taste of finals.

But that's not an attempt at gamesmanship leading up to Friday night's elimination final, instead just a frank assessment of where he sat this time last year in the same position.

"Last year I put on a brave face and said I was embracing it and saying I wasn't nervous when I was absolutely packing my dacks," Stewart said.

I was about to say that this bloke would know, given his efforts in September last year.  But he is obviously aware of his own performance!  Well played Tom.

I think what he said on the AFL site was pretty accurate but wasn't smart on his end. That could be used as motivation.

To be honest, and maybe this is my MFCSS kicking in, this week feels like it is leading up to the mother of all anti climaxes. The same peanuts who will carry on like pork chops if we lose on Friday are now pumping us up. This will feed into their lazy narrative of Melbourne being 'soft' and they are doing the groundwork now to raise expectations.

The only thing I dislike about the cats is the Selwood ducking thing that we don’t see that often now .

yeah they are cocky and have some show pony types and feel free to dislike , I admire their winning culture.

Bartells work in raising awareness around family issues and sharing his story has been first class as is his footy knowledge during his match call.

I never liked bartel as a player, probably because of all the smashings, my partner goes for hawthorn so she naturally hated him, but even she said he's best special comments, actual insight into why a team is dominating or what it needs to do to get back into it. Instead of the usual "they need the next goal" or "they need to be harder at the ball". And for all the 300 game and star power chanel 7 employ in these positions Daisy's a close second, she often comes up with a bit more inside knowledge on why a teams setting up the way it is.

Agree. Surprisingly good. ActualIy adds something to the understanding of the game - unfortunately rare for so called special comments people.

I think Daisy is number 1 though.

Who said that??

But great ammunition for our players for the game on Friday.

Dees’ finals debutants will be ‘packing their dacks’.

See AFL website.

If you actually read the article which clearly you didn't he wasnt taking a stab.

Stewart was simply reflecting on HIS first final only 12 months ago a said he was "packing his dacks " and reckons that the finals debutants will feel the same.

The headline is insulting. Maybe our players are a bit tougher than he thinks.

Its an honest assessment of how HE felt, and a guess at how he reckons our boys feel.

Absolutely nothing wrong with what he said TBH.

Only problem is that it will be the Cats who are [censored] themselves about facing us on Friday. They know we can beat them, and we know we can beat them.

Cant wait for Friday.

Agree, that’s why I thought the topic was a bit over the top, if you only read the article heading you would have thought he was having a go at us, it was his opinion, but not sure Viney will be krapping in his daks!

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
