May be interchange for Clarry.

Max was the best ruckman, Grundy shades Gawn around the ground in possessions but Gawns ducking and marking down back is some of the best I’ve ever seen.

well done big max, best ruckman in the game.

Collingwood supporters forget that Grundy is merely a ruckman good at ground level and second efforts, but when it comes to hitouts (which is the bloody role of a ruckman) there is no one better than Mr 1000 hitouts Max Gawn.

I fully agree. I just had that same argument with my husband. I told him Grundy can be the water boy!

Did anyone hear his speech? Just wondering how good it was.

also if there is any outrage, just show them the coaches voting max as the best play this year.

Magnificent. That's all I can think when I see all the in-game pics of the beard. We've had such tough times, but as fans, at least in one way we're absolutely spoiled. He's the very epitome of a figurehead.

Gawn Vs Grundy is the Sandilands Vs Cox discussion of years gone by.

Hard to split them really but glad we have big Maxy. His love for the club and his teammates (past and present) is so good to see, plus he is arguably the best tap ruckman ive seen

There is only one right answer in the Maxxy v Grundy debate, and it was delivered last night.

Grundy gets more possessions, but Maxxy leads in hitouts (i.e. rucking duties) and his possessions are more impactful.

Plus, the beard.

Simples.

I didn’t watch the whole thing but on what I did watch, Gawn and Clarry were the only ones getting laughs from the audience. MFC bringing the characters back to the game ?

The AA Team is announced tonight. Here is the team fans have collectively picked to this point through the AFL Pick Your 22 Tool.

I think selecting the "AFL Pick Your 22 Tools" might be more fun. A couple from the 2019 AA team might get into both teams.

I’m not fussed about Franklin being captain, it’s a fantasy team. Dangerfield being vice makes just as little sense.

I like the team mostly, but I’d have Devon Smith and McRae instead of Edwards and Gray (as much as I love Robbie Gray).

I’m a fan of Yeo but I’ve watched a lot of West Coast and he drifts in and out too much for mine.

Has the AA team become a whos who of popularity rather than the best 22 players for their position, a few lucky ones there, including the captain (whos not even in Sydney's leadership group). I'd argue Ablett has had a better year than Dangerfield at Geelong, who was named VC, Blicavs or Jonas ahead of Rance, Gray? Hawkins had a consistent year, Gunston over TMAC or Hogan, Edwards was good but not as good as Macrae. Just seems they're picking favourites. Happy with both Gawn as first ruck and Oliver on the bench is fine by me, he's 21, he has plenty of time to make the starting 18.

Possibly mentioned already but -

Max Gawn is our first dual All Australian since David Neitz  (1995,2002)

This is the first time we have had AA representation  in three straight seasons (Gawn x2, Hibberd, Oliver) since 1993-1995 (Lyon x3, Stynes, Neitz, Tingay, Balme (coach) )

Is it just me or is AA ruckman twice in 3 years a massive achievement? Seems to be a largely revolving position

Add a bit of sepia and Clarry looks straight out of those vintage 1950s Melbourne premiership photos.

I was just having a discussion with someone and was wondering if they still name state teams even though we dont play it anymore?

When talking about past players its often brought "player a" represented his state 7 times, and is used as career recognition.

It was a discussion about nev, i believe he would be picked multiple years by now and think it would still carry weight.

Yeah I reckon he’d have had a few guernsies by now. It’s unfortunate but there’s just no place for representative Footy it seems. As relevant a stat as Dermie’s 5 day and 5 night premierships. I’d much rather hear state history than that!

The All Australian selectors claim they select the team as if it were playing  a real game... yet they again leave out Neville Jetta, by far the best small defender in the comp.

I hope they watched last night, because he made them look like fools.
