Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Got my membership in the post yesterday, while read through it, came across Demon Incentive Plan no disrespect what a load of CRAP.

You can pledge money per win or donate a one off fee for the entire year.Ok if i pledge money per win will they pledge the same to me per loss, dont think so.

Lets just name a few games from last year that i felt ripped off as a Melbourne Member, both games against Carlton And nearly every time we go over to Adelaide seems like our efforts are poor, just cant seem to win over there.

What are peoples thoughts on this, i will probably cop a bagging but thats just my opinion.

yes this is one of the more illogical posts i have read.

of course the club is trying to make money to stay alive, so one way is for the people to pledge money per win instead of just asking for money ie footscray, richmond and fitzroy.

and im sure the club and players go out of their way to play badly in adelaide, and meant to lose to carlton twice.

i dont feel ripped off, i feel upset that we lost games we never should have, but when i pay my $$$ for my membership i know that it might be a season like 2000 (hopefully) or all the other ones where we finished near last, with your membership you pay for entry to see the game not the result and to be a part of the club, seriously if this upsets you as i really seems to have done id hate to see you when a real problem occurs in your life.

dont sweat some of the 'ideas' 3001 ....welcome to MFC !!

Hey they are trying ideas, thats good. Hope they try more. Shows some lateralness down at the club, thats also good !!

Many of us simply consider the membership as a donation at the best of times !!! lol :-)))

Many of us simply consider the membership as a donation at the best of times !!!

For me it is essentially just that.

I doubt I've ever got 'value for money' - ignoring the better seats, I'd spend less if I simply bought a ticket each time I went to the game.

I don't use the stuff that they send out in the membership pack each year, although I did give a MFC scarf to someone I've been trying to turn into a Dees supporter (& member) :D

i agree RRR

i pay for the club to survive, do i get value, well i get 11 games with my own seat amongst my own fans

but i want my club to survive and prosper so ill happily pay my membership every year and if i can pledge money to things like pay so juice can play.

i also buy those pointless scratchy things and if im near the cheer squad on away games i buy there margin and first goal tickets.

I buy my membership every year also the raffle tickets on the way into the ground, cause i as well want the oldest football club in the world to survive.

Sometimes i just think the club excepts to much from its supports, thats all clubs in all sports ranging from local leagues to the Afl.

Clubs sometimes have to realise that if thats all a member can afford thats all the member can afford.

Memberships are not about value for money (which often they actually are), their value lies in the fact that they help our club to compete with the rich, successful clubs... so that we don't have to have team meetings in a tin shed (which we currently do).

I drive past Junction Oval nearly everyday on my way to uni, and that place is falling apart.

It would be a huge lift for the club to move to some decent facilities, which will be happening shortly, and then of course there is the issue of how much we can afford to pay our staff and football department.

We can't afford to send our players to ice rehabilitation in L.A., hell we can't afford those fancy ice- helmets either, but we need to be able to compete on the most basic level, by having as many trainers, development staff, equipment and so on.

i wont buy the scrathy things outside the ground since one of the sellers told me they get 50% and the mfc get 50%. also i had bought one once and "won a football" was what it said. when i went to collect it in was smaller than the size of my fist. thats not a football to me thats a toy. i would rather donate $5 than feel ripped off. and i'd be very happy to buy tickets if i knew the bluc was getting more than 50% of the ticket price.

i understand your perception, however the club is not forcing anybody into paying something they can't afford, merely reaching out for some needed cash from those that can.

The incentive plan has been around for years so I am surprised you raise it as an issue now. Personally the incentive in winning for me and hopefully the players is a no brainer so I leave it alone and prefer to buy raffle tickets druing the year, merchandise and donate to things such as the Newton "pay to play" (150 club fund).

in a way this is the answer to all the people who sook and whinge after a loss and say 'why do i pay my money etc". pledge per win. if the team performs you will support them, if they lose you don't have to pay. and then you wont have to whinge here either.

Dean,

while the club only gets 50% it is better than nothing. This arrangement means the club does not have to use volunteers or pay for people to do this job.

It has meant a HUGE increase in income for the club from the "chook raffles" we used to run before on game day.

However, I agree that donating to the club directly is a better outcome....providing you do that!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
