GWS v Sydney will be a test for the AFL.

Could be embarrassing if it's not a sellout

Not trying to profit just may have a couple more than needed.

I'm in the same boat, have two tickets in M10, willing to sell for a big discount also.

They don't really care DJ.

As long as there is a reasonable crowd which there will be.

The AFL is all about eyes on screens as long as the game rates well, if Sydney siders  go or not means bugger all to them.

Same as our game If it rates well they will happy if the number going is low they will use it as evidence that our games should be on their smaller venue.

I understand that it is ok as long as you do not ask for more than the face value.

you're probably right but I don't think they liked the optics of the lowest finals crowd ever that GWS drew last year.  (GWS v WCE).They are lucky it ended up between the two Sydney teams.

If anyone is interested I have 2 tickets in M15, row G.  Cost was $82 each.

Provided they can be on sold of course.

I’m in need of two tickets!

Are prices still $80 for top tier Melbourne memberships? Because I only paid $23 and around $140 in total for 7 tickets in AFL Members *shrugs*

I had to buy a few extra tickets for family members last night and I must say $76 for Level 4 is an absoluter rip! Has anyone else paid this?

I paid $82 for Level 1 admission

AFL full members get in "free" to first 3 weeks of finals just have to pay a $21 booking fee if you want to reserve a seat. Technically you could just walk up and scan in on the night for nothing as long as it's not sold out. You'll end up in the nosebleeds or standing room though

I scored 8 tickets in M18 today absolutely stoked. Was a bit stressed initially had the looping wait page til 915

Yes, but we chose to site there. Row K I think, bang on the wing. Much prefer the first third of level 4 to level 1 seating. But that's just me and my mob.

from afl.com:

"Since sales for the two MCG finals resumed, 40,000 tickets have been sold to Richmond and Hawthorn club members, while 25,000 tickets have been sold to Melbourne and Geelong members after sales resumed for that game later on Wednesday."

Suggests there are at least 15000 more members tickets available.

Would also suggest we won't be getting over 70K for this game.

Though that would still be a very healthy crowd.

Those who do will have the added benefit of being able to come down and say hello to my good self in D3!

Those who bought club memberships paid the full fee, AFL reserve tickets are discounted as it costs an arm and a leg for the annual membership praha.

It’s what it’s like to be a Melbourne supporter.

The struggle is real.

AFL full membership includes admission to all the finals (silver membership to the first two weeks). The amount paid ($21) is for reserving a seat. Much the same as the MCC but a fair bit cheaper for the annual sub.

If the AFL members does not sell out (quite common) you can just go and sit in the unreserved section of the AFL reserve.

Overall AFL is potentially a good deal as it gets you into three games a week every week plus the finals (assuming you use it.)

Even just going to a game a week makes it a decent investment.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
