He was poor today plain and simple did not mater how tall he is. I said nothing about his height.

the simple fact is he did pull his wait.

First year player who is clearly showing the signs of having played too many games. Badly in need of a rest.

Fair call od ! I reckon he was running out of petrol tickets a couple of weeks ago. And yes, size does come into it. He's only 18 and has yet to muscle up or develop core strength. I would have doubts about his current ability to withstand the rigours of a final.

Give him time though.

I thought all 22 did well.

Tyson was good, so I'll put that down to the usual tiresome sledging he cops.

Spargo wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. His spot could be up for grabs going into finals if the likes of Garlett really get going again, but I'm beginning to lose faith that could happen.

Watching Jeffy yesterday he doesn’t look interested, wouldn’t surprise if he pulls pin or we trade

Bought this up before he got selected again, take a 2nd rounder and be done with it.

Where are all the Jones, Tyson and Handgun Hannan haters? Its taken 21 rounds to find our perfect formula.

Would have to be Viney for Spargo 1st week of finals.

A lot of us said he needed the rest and JKH should have played instead.

They ran the ball out of our forward line without any pressure and that was his role and ANB's.

Spargo as I said before will be a good player for us.

As for ANB he is a game killer for us. His turnovers and fumbles are so momentum shifting.

I don't know about his grunt work I hardly saw him lay a tackle, or get close to an opponent, except when he had the ball and then turned it over.

Anyway well done guys you deserve your finals chance after a very good year.

Win next week and we get the chance to pay back the Cats on the G.

I usually agree with your views, but you are really wrong about nibbler.

Until Garlett kicks 3 in a final at the G.

I thought Joeboy had most correct except i agree with most here Dom T was good and Spargo did more than enough and will learn get better and play plenty of great games in the future !

three words - Great Team Effort

Not bad Joeboy probably a little nice to OMac and Brayshaw on the day, the Eagles were playing through Oscars man when they got back into the game and Brayshaw is still a poor decision maker.

Harmes - MFCs most underrated

Seriously, this guy is becoming a champion. He has been smashing top end opposition players and getting heaps of his own footy. I am a massive fan, he has taken the biggest leap of the players on our list this season.

Will Viney be fit for the 1st Final?

They say so I hope so.

Where's fencescore?

I though spargo lost us the game last week against the Swans and almost this week through his inexperience. This can’t happen in finals. For me, Jesse Garret needs to come in for him.

There were 21 other players on the field against the swans with more experience who wasted the opportunity. Poor post to blame Spargo for that collective debacle.

Did you see him turn the ball over 7 times last week against the Swans and drop a crucial easy mark and have 14 possies at 50% effectiveness? Did you see him fumble a number of other possible possies? Did you see him get in the way of teammates?

Did you watch him today turn over several possies? Did you watch him fumble several possible possies?

Look at the DL voting right alongside this post and despite playing every game, he is 19th in the voting, even behind Jeffy, who has only played a few games and been poor this year. Seems like most DL's agree about ANB. In that list of 25 players, IMO he is ahead of only Garlett.

BTW he is a terrible set shot for goal.

IMO he is the worst player in the side. Yes someone has to be the worst and IMO he is the one. Sorry about that. Just stating an opinion.

I don't blame ANB for his play, I blame those that select him.

Think you were pretty much on the money there Joeboy. Tyson did occasionally slow momentum but I thought his in close stuff was decent.

In the 3 years after crossing from Carlton he's kicked roughly 40, 30 and 40 goals for us

Then 2018 comes around & he's going like a busted arse - although has still kicked nearly 20 goals

He's just turned 29 and appears to still have his pace

It's be well worth doing some work to find out what the hell went wrong before firing him out of the cannon.

We're not exactly overcrowded with true small forwards

Disagree on Petracca. 0 tackles laid

Petracca is overrated around Mfc.

He gets a lot of latitude given, because of his touted talents.

Well I haven't seen him rip-open a game. yet.   Put up, or shut up, tracca.

He's more like a little quad bike, than some sort of truck.

A job for our psychologist, should we have one?

He seemed to have checked out after requesting leave to go home late last year for a personal bereivement. When he came back it seemed his heart wasn't in it any more. His only good game was against Brisbane earlier this year.

Hate is a pretty strong word to use  for a player of my club, who  I support,  but don’t rate as highly as you do.

He has had personal issues for a while, that might be the cause.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
