Clarry the robot an amazing player, is he a machine? Angus Brayshaw he is getting better with each game as he is at another level. Now Harmes is playing with alot of confidence since tagging Selwood and Danger and a recent Sloan, nullifying them all. Hogan back to his best again, as they all did there part.  Looking forward with anticipation at the next game against Sydney. However l know we are ready to rip into them this time. Go Dees!!!

I am showing my bias here Cos I really rate him but one partial solution to the lack of pace issue is Hunt. I say get him in. Smith going down gives an opportunity 

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Frost goes against Franklin next week.

Some great runs and chase downs today. 

Melbourne in the past would have brought that game down to the wire but instead we got a relaxing afternoon at the 'G. A victory next week is crucial, but based on today's performance I'm confident.

Agree.  I think he has been involved in some really good assists and passages of play over the past two weeks.  If I recall correctly, I think it was him who shot out that handball to Lewis in the clear to set up one of those goals from 50 last week and I noticed him doing some similarly good distribution and link work with the ball today.  With Viney out, we really needed others to stand up and I'd say Brayshaw and Tyson are certainly getting the job done at the moment.

It seems to me that Tyson is making quicker and better decisions in close - and whilst he still missed a kick or two today he is not taking as many quick scrub kicks from packs.

not sold on jfk but he is working like Anb without the ball and much stronger defensively. Was better vs crows than this week - but still serviceable.

Kudos to our development. Guys going back to Casey are clearly briefed on what they need to improve and seem to be better players when they get their next chance in seniors.

pity about Smith. Thought he was really showing his potential offensively today before he got injured.

i still have high hopes for Weideman based on the improvements that we are seeing in other players after stints with Casey

Frost did some great work again today I thought.

He is such an enigma though.  Remember him taking a great mark in the second or third quarter and thinking to myself "now don't cough it up doing something stupid" - following which he passes to Lewis in deep back 50m, screwing the kick up and I think it was only that they took Lewis high in the tackle that saved us.  Generally though he did dispose of the ball quite well on some occations.

I like Frosty as a player and I think he is of good value to the team dispite his too frequent screw ups.  Alot of players wouldn't win the turn overs he does to get possession in the first place.  I've also noticed that often when he does turn it over, he's more than cleared our deep defensive zone and gained 75 or so meters feild position for us before turning it over, which gives us sone time to reset our defense.

IF he could gain some composure with his more of his disposals he would be a total weapon.

There were some boisterous GC supporters in the Blazer Bar in the members after the match.

I got talking to 2 of them. Very attractive/friendly women. One was a  GC player's mother. Her son (whose name i've forgotten) wasn't playing today. 

They were in good spirits despite the thrashing.

You have got to wonder if it is the Karmichael Hunt debacle and the toxic effect that would have had on their culture that they are now paying for.  What makes this worse is that it all essentially happened on the AFL's watch - they set up this team and clearly didn't put in the right leadership foundations to create a strong sustainable culture.  Go back a few years and they had talent to burn, Prestia, O'Mera, Dixon, Bennell, Sadd, Caddy, Ablett and others, but I think it all stared to fall apart when Hunt went off the rails. 

I find it all a great shame really, because not only were we crueled of some of that tallent at a time we really needed it, but footy on the Gold Coast has also been dealt a blow.  There is a much better following and developed Aussie Rules competition on the Gold Coast than GWS IMHO.

In hindsight, perhaps Ablett will go down a a great player but fairly ordanary leader.  During today's game, the comentators suggested that Miller should be GC's next captain, but having been through what the MFC has in recient times, I do wonder if they would be better off sticking with an old head like Harbrow who I think has been pretty solid for them over the journey.

So many things to like about how we played this game. 

Something that stood out was the composure in front of goal, especially in the first quarter.  A number of times a player could have snapped for goal, instead they looked for a player in a better position - at one stage Petracca kicked the ball about 25m back out of the goal square.  Nearly every time a player looked for someone else it resulted in a goal.  Hence the 9.3 at qtr time. 

It looked as if this was a very deliberate plan on how to play today - almost a 'test run' of a modification to our game plan:  Don't snap, stop and look!  Huge learning curve for players.  It worked very well.  Very unselfish play by the team.

Look I have no love or attachment to this club. But every year talented players end up there and you just have to feel for them. They are on a hiding to nothing. It’s just not ok. 

They will get pick 2 and most likely 3 this year for Lynch (he’s a RFA right?). A better established club would try to trade at least one of those picks for a good player and leader. But no money will convince anyone half decent to go there. So back to the draft they go to get more kids, who will get no real leadership and end up going elsewhere in a few years time. 

I can’t see how they get out of this cycle. 

Just got a txt from a friend on Lombok Indonesia, they just had a massive earthquake 7.0 and an active tsunami warning has been issued...she said there is huge damage.....hope everyone there is ok.

The only reason for their existence is the spurious argument that you need two local teams to maintain the momentum in the local market.

It is a death market.... look at Brisbane... three premierships in the capital city and yet they cannot turn a profit.
