On the positive IF we can somehow scrape/ fluke/ edge our way into the finals. We get Viney and hibberd bk fresh. But .... I agree. Club is cursed. Memories of 1995 when Schwartz, tingay, Charles , Lyon, , jakovich all had virtually career ending injuries.

We’re going to have to b lucky now. Feel like we’re gonna be one win short. Can’t help but see the High irony if Gawn, having the best season fr the club I can almost remember post flower, may have in part cost us a finals spot in round 1.

The week and the weekend suddenly has taken a turn for the worse.

Massive loss. Hibberd brings so much to the team.

Quad injuries are difficult to heal. A serious tear could be season ending.

Please wrap Max up in cotton wool.

Jones had a quad injury he was out for 6, I hope its not as severe as that.

My source tells me it's not severe a la Jones last year.  2 to 3 weeks tops.

That’s some good news if that’s the case Rusty. Misson’s report stated he hurt his quad in the ‘extras’ session after the main was completed. Aarghhh!!

Hibbo as seen on the news footage that morning still managed to stop for a young fan’s autograph request on his limping way back to AAMI.

Happy for any good news Rusty....but how reliable is your source? 2-3 would be a massive relief if you're right. Could be we get Hunt, Viney, Hibberd back all around the same time. And yes I know Hunt was playing in the Magoos when injured but cant help but feel how much we're missing him atm.

How does the severity of Hibberd's injury affect our chances of winning this week? He's not playing either way.

It doesn't - I meant if it's a tear it's season over for him but if it's only a strain I still think we can win this week without him anyway and hopefully get him back the week after.

Nathan Jones missed 6 weeks with a quad strain.

If its a tear for Hibberd then bank on him missing the rest of the year unfortunately.

Very solid Wells.  Not in the business of selling false hope to the long suffering here.

Assuming the recovery goes as expected, Hibbs will return in 2 to 3

Hope Your right about Hibberd, can’t really afford a longer injury this stage of the season

Especially on the bigger MCG type grounds where he can run to space and break the lines.

Hibberd was on 10 news saying should only 1-2 weeks out was quite positive

Thats great news.  Back for Adelaide possibly, if not definitely Gold Coast.

I'd give him the Crows game and the Suns game to get it right.  The Adelaide game might be too soon, while I think we can get away with not having him for a horrible Suns side.  Get him cherry ripe for the Swans.

Still no update on Hibberd?

No timetable was given for his injury

The Age today...

The Demons, battling for a return to the finals for the first time since 2006, hope to have co-captain Jack Viney (foot) and running defender Michael Hibberd (quad) back for the round-21 clash against Sydney.

Cheers 10.

To say it would be a huge boost to get them back for that crucial match would be an understatement.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
