Baker and jordon definetly, but dunkley is slower than gus. Definetly not suited for the wing

Yet they continue to put Jones on the wing.

Put in Dunkley and see what happens.
That's how T.Mac became a forward, and over a year of not proving much at all, he's still there.

aren't dunkley and baker only recent hub residents? doubt they'd come straight into the 22

brayshaw for polec; if you believe the scum rumours, one is on $600-650k and the other is on $700-750k

i'd take a $100k hit on our cap space to have polec over brayshaw in our side

i very much doubt whether north will entertain the trade; dropping both him and sideshow bob this round is a massive statement from shaw

isn't it great that they'll undoubtedly both destroy is in two games time...

we'd be silly not to see if North are interested in dealing Polec. i'd happily take Ben Brown and Polec off their hands for Brayshaw and Tmac

Admittedly I havent watched much of North but I always thought Polec was average

It is a little thing but maybe the footy dept and recruiters should stop using the generic term, midfielders and instead look at onballers and wingman. The wing is a specialist position and we should be targeting as such Langdon is a wingman and the Club used PR spin convincing supporters Tomlinson was is or ever was a wingman.

We have enough talent.

We don't have a decent coach. He should have resigned in shame after the Geelong game

Goodwin: 'We couldn't get the ball off them' and "we'll be better prepared next time".

Seriously a full time coach saying that. Disgusting.

Let's hope their recruiter doesn't watch football matches.

Why would we want to recruit another bloke who is dropped for attitude issues (Polec).

We have a list full of them.

We don’t have elite facilities, don’t have elite standards and wonder why we can’t produce consistent, elite effort.

We can’t develop an elite culture, can’t develop kids and can’t develop a game plan to work with the cattle we have.

I’d be keen to deal on some of the young swans players, they seem to have plenty that can come in and do well.

He's better than Brayshaw and Brown is better than Tommy I would take that trade in a heart beat so much so that I don't think North would want to do it.

looks like north are much better without brown or polec currently...

will be interesting to see whether polec is at his fourth club in 2021

They are only playing Adelaide, if we lose to them surely the coach will be sacked?

Aside from the rare situation where you have a player who is very much suited to a specific role only, I get very wary about talk of 'inside' and 'outside' as separate things.

In an individual player there might be a difference in their strengths and weaknesses but excessive talk of recruiting specifically for inside our out always makes my eye twitch and think of Terry Wallace, who was the grand priest of 'inside only and outside only' players.

If I had one dream draft pick right now for our team, or a magic wand to wave over one player and 'complete' them, it would be to add someone like Dyson Heppell, Marc Murphy, or, obviously, Pendlebury.

The dees have always had outside run or wingers, but no use having them if our ruckman & inside mids aren't instructed to use them. Most other teams on ballers, you can see clearly, that they 'feed' the ball out to their runners. Sounds simple enough but we don't do it.

This is not our problem.

Marc Murphy.. heppel... no way. Pendlebury absolutely but Murphy and heppel are both average

Are you serious what would a Heppell or Murphy add to the club, you’ve gotta be kidding me!!

Oh yeah & let’s get Pendlebury as a 37 yo when he retires

Discussion was of type of player.

Obviously.

Silly Billy.

And explain to to me how a Heppell ‘type player’ would help?

If we’re going along that line how about a Gary Ablett Snr

First up, either of Murphy or Heppell can point to periods of at least five consecutive years where their form would place them in our current best 4.

More to my point, their mixed capability would allow them to contribute as much what we are currently getting from two players - eg. Murphy would outpoint Langdon and Bennell combined and Heppell would match Brayhsaw and Melksham combined.

Right now we are limited tactically by the limited range of our main midfielders.  A high-quality well-rounded player, not necessarily superstar, would make a huge difference to our situation.

Throw the book at Josh Kelly and Matt Crouch. Get rid of two of Brayshaw, Oliver or Harmes. Jones to retire.

That will balance the midfield.

Also do what you can to get in Papley or Elliot. Maybe trade The Mac brothers (Sydney) or Weeds for Elliot.

You do realise Matt Crouch is a bigger inside of a midfielder then even Brayshaw and Harmes?

Or was it Brad? Matt is a good ball user though, no?

No he's ball use is quite poor.

Matt crouch is quite possibly the most overrated player ive ever seen. Runs one way and racks up junk touches

Don't rate this at all.

Kelly the same ilk as Tomlinson, don't want anymore of those types at the club.

Josh Kelly is rated one of the best outside midfielders going around atm and is in a club that will have cap issues. Name someone else that is more gettable atm.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
