Jack Viney is out of touch....

Will be a lot better for it after the bye

Oh @Big Demon - I hope that’s your handle and your real name is Luke Beveridge or Nathan Buckley

Will be an easy one to fact check next week Danelska, if he gets a tag you’re right and I’m wrong - if he doesn’t you’re wrong and I’m right.

Deal?

I actually thought his value the last few weeks has been his ability to spread from the contest and pick up those outside disposals.  He has been doing it (the inside to out role) much better than Tyson was, and it frees Oliver to be damaging inside without needing to be the first to spread.

Fair call, Tyson has struggled for form this year sadly.

I thought he got better in the second half. Got caught a few times in the first trying to just tackles

Totally agree with this. And the friggin ‘yews’ in every gap of the verse. Goes for all teams. There ought to be a singing/chanting coach brought in.

i really hate to say it, but the blues the other week nailed their song- proper tempo and no ‘yews’.

Our boys have to lift

I thought i noticed that too......didnt mind the indigenous version as well, sung before the game.

Viney had 35 disposals. If he is out of touch, god help the rest of the comp once he finds his touch.

In 72% gametime.     Hes back.

15 mins into watching the game.

Wow. Ball movement, spread, marking...all of it! So good.

Then I saw Hunt and Pedo running laps while the game is on. THAT says it all to me...

Have you not seen it yet DG? Get ready for a perpetual smile over the next few days.

Viney's 35 possessions when he spent least time on the ground (out of both teams) wasn't too shabby.

Not to mention that the 'expert' commentators expected him to have a downer in his second game back - they're talking about The Beast!

What an awesome day and well done MFC. How well have this club embraced the N.T and did anyone notice (sorry if alreadu mentioned) that the club went to the trouble of getting the song recorded in the local dialect. They played it as we came on the ground. Channel 7's coverage of the pre game and story on translating "Grand old flag" intoArrernte language were first class. Go dees.

Viney getting that involved in his 2nd game back is [censored] frightening.

The midfield we’ve assembled after years of rolling (with all due respect) garbage through there is an absolute joy to watch. Skill, heart, hardness, consistency... just a group of beasts.

The back line is perfect for modern footy.

The forward line is [censored] off good.

And the greatest ruckman on earth.

Haven’t had this much fun watching footy since 98 and 2000. And I appreciate it so much more these days. And at a time when 14 other teams are dishing up crud spectacles. Keep it going.

[censored] yes Dees.

Anyone questioning Viney is clueless. Even if his 'touch' isn't quite there yet.

He was monumental at the coal face today and his pressure and tackling is out of this world. He wins scraps on the ground when he should have absolutely no right to win them. Two against ones, you name it.

I have nothing negative to say about today's game. It was by far one of the best four quarter efforts I've seen from this club.

The confidence we now play with is what is most exciting and I can't believe we're still injury free.

Dees.

My boss is a mad Crow, he even sqwaks after goals, so much so that even though he lives in Melb he will tune into 5AA radio when the Power loses...

I really enjoyed going to Adelaide with him last year for the Dees game and had a $50 bottle of wine on today’s result... I’ll be putting witches hats around his desk before he gets in tomorrow.

That was one of the best games I’ve ever seen us play in my 40 years. Bring on the next 2 weeks and hopefully some great footy to boost member numbers and get a few people who may have left back on board.

And a big poster of Josh Jenkins on his wall!

Is it just me or has Viney bulked up a bit? Looks like a real beast as well as playing like one ...

What an amazing performance. We are in a serious run of form at the moment.

I thought our game plan was unsustainable and too taxing, but we seem to have struck a sweet spot recently, especially since TMac has been back.

Amongst a solid backline, Lord Nev kept Eddie in his back pocket.

Pure defensive magic.

Dees.

I remember in either the third or last quarter in defence and viney was one on two or three cow players and he had the ball/lost the ball got the ball back and cleared it out.

His determination, strength and will to win the ball and contest was magnificent.

Couldnt fault him he is an awesome player and thanks Todd for producing such a specimen.

The boys have nothin on the class of 2011 - Col Sylvia 4 goals - 96 point drubbing...

Just look at some of those names ?

I had no idea that Tim Smith was capable of playing this sort of football.  Having seen very little of him in the past, what I had seen was, what I believed to be, one dimensional.  Good VFL key position player, but non-impactful at senior level.

He has been outstanding and his versatility and aggression is a real weapon.

Hasn't had the chance to prove himself at senior level after getting a punctured lung in his debut last year. Thought this was his best. He rarely gets beaten in the air bringing the ball to ground and loves the contested ball.

Apparently been doing it for quite a while down at Casey so forced Dees to pick him up. Nice stuff. Our tall forward depth is pretty great at the moment.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
