I just want to see the Saints keep pushing up the $'s collingwood has to pay him to stay. I am also keen to see if collingwood has the integrity to stand behind the behavioral clause requirement or they fold as they need him.

I wonder how the "do better" moniker is handling this. If he was number 30 on their list he would be long gone.

heard it was not the existence of such clauses but the wording being too vague and open-ended

they'll work it all out

iirc some Coll sponsors were pretty upset with De Goey's NY and Bali antics.  I wonder what their thoughts are on making the behavioural clauses less restrictive.

Along with the 'do better' report and Eddie's antics a few years ago their sponsors have really been tested.

De Goey has made the right call. In today’s hysterical world, it is too easy for a social media bandit to take a picture of him, alleging “behavioural issues” and next minute he is front page of the HS and sacked.

Example 1:   A.Clarkson. 99% of people have written him off, and want him sacked. My guess is more than likely he doesn’t deserve to be sacked. Watch this space.

Ah yes, I'm sure Collingwood would sack one of their best players on a huge contract just simply off the basis of 1 social media post without investigating to the nth degree. Not an over the top take at all...

Do they? I don't recall saying anyone anywhere saying Clarkson should be immediately sacked, let alone '99% of people'.

Couple of classic red hot takes here mate.

Imagine being paid millions to be an athlete and the one clause is 'don't be a [censored]' and you're not willing to commit to that 😆

The perceived injustices meted out to Jordan de Goey is a strange hill to die on.

I'd like to see TISM, but I'm too old for festivals.

I used to play in an 80s cover band. Our drummer was a mate of one of the members of TISM (Sean Kelly, same name as the Models guy, but a different person). He got us a gig once.

He wasn't the Ron Hitler-Barassi member of TISM ...

You realise you are on Demonland, right Bingers? And yes, you just said that out loud.

FWIW, I believe you’re NEVER too old for festivals. I still go to festivals and concerts, and because I’m generally with friends half my age, I always end up in the mosh pit. Good times.

I may be wrong because I have been predicting Cat’s demise for years but I reckon Pies may drop way down next year. It’s not possible to keep having the luck in close matches they had this year which then led to an overachieving emotionally driven finish. Maybe deGoey sees greener pastures.

Didn’t say that Axis. No doubt he has made poor decisions in the past, and deserved to pay the price for them.

I am saying moving forward, can understand why he doesn’t want to have additional clauses vs all other AFL players, when everyone will be watching his every move.

And I'd rather be paid a million dollars a year in my job ..... but my past actions and performances have suggested to my employer that doing that would be a terrible idea. It's the same with Collingwood and de Goey.

I assume that de Goey is thinking that someone is desperate enough that they will pay him a contract without the behavioural clauses (probably St Kilda, if history is anything to go by) and then make Collingwood decide to match that contract (without the clauses) or let him go. The really interesting bit will be if Collingwood matches the contract or not.

Yeah I thought about going to Goodthings to see them but I too can't really get around the festival thing these days, especially on a Friday and this is coming from a former muso as well. It's quite a bit of money to fork out to see one band (love a lot of the others playing but seen them a lot)

Could well be right. Maybe willing to push Coll to remove the conditions. And if they don’t, he is happy to accept one of the other offers.

Maybe he is also acknowledging within himself that he has un-resolved issues, and cant guarantee he will become a saint (pardon the pun) overnight.

Isn't very common to have a contract that length with behavioural clauses? Seems to me it's usually like a 2-3 year with a chance to prove themselves and then get another. Maybe the clauses only last the first 2 years or something like that.

Posted (edited)

Pure conjecture but what if the behavioural clauses state they can dock half his contract or simply delist him as they see fit?

I can see why he would not not want to sign something like that.....and the clauses are probably pages long.

Collingwood will either look weak and relent on some of the clauses or will likely lose him to St Kilda, who will have many less clauses attached to his contract.

Tricky one to negotiate for the Pies! Suffer!

I hope you're right DeeMee but I actually fear the opposite, unfortunately.

They have a fantastic coach, learnt a lot about their strengths, built a resolve as a team and unearthed some really good young talent. Will be a massive threat in 2023 I think.

I know!  It's getting to the point where you can't even (allegedly) forcibly touch a woman on the dancefloor and beat up her friend

It's just got hysterical!

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
