YES Rocky this was exactly my point

Wasted on some on here couldnt agree more

I thought when I saw this thread that the one person who would object to it was you. You never have a single positive thing to say about the club.

Do you have any idea what an hour's prime time exposure on one of Australia's most popular television shows is worth?

My son's restaurant has Masterchef film there every second year. They did it again earlier in the year. They will literally get thousands of calls in the week after it is aired.

This was filmed so long ago we’re still promoting the old sponsors

The first promo shot with the AHG top was filmed last year, at the Masterchef lunch all the players had iSelect tops and it was filmed earlier this year.

Exactly. Not sure how much a commercial is worth these days but I'm sure it's not cheap. This wasn't even a commercial (which alot of people fast forward or go take a leak during). This was during the main event during one of the highest rating show in the country *. You can't put a price on that exposure and considering it was filmed in the off season no one can say it has any impact on our performances this year. I guarantee you the players featured aren't walking around like they're George Clooney or Brad Pitt today because they were on Masterchef last night.

the connection is, you don't deserve attention until you've earned it. we haven't. and the club seems to intent on pushing the 'image' before we've even got a clear idea of what we are on the field.

You seem like the kind of bloke that has there school listed as "The School of Hard Knocks" on Facebook ...

It was a bit of fun, good exposure and gave a very positive view of our club to the world.

Was a little bit cringy that the women's team, who seemed to be present, weren't mentioned or acknowledged at all during the episode - everything was ''da boys'd love that''.

In addition, a large percentage of those 910k viewers would be from a non footy demographic. Hence exposing the club to new potential members & sponsors especially if/when they looked at the ladder and observed we were ‘up there’.

I'm not sure the appearance directly relates to a rise in memberships but it is free exposure and that can't be viewed as a bad thing as some are trying to paint.

We know we're the Melbourne Footy Club but we've been trying over time to be identified as THE MELBOURNE Football Club

When people think Melbourne...and the idea of Football comes up it should be US that is THAT identity.

There IS only one  club called MELBOURNE.

Here we have a show with an audience of squillions doing just that.

Ladies and Gentlemen

The Melbourne Football Club. The oldest continuing Football Club... anywhere.

Thanks MC

As an aside, I live in Europe and have travelled a fair bit in my time. The vast majority of people I speak to overseas, from every corner of every continent, have derived most of their cultural understanding of Australia from Masterchef. And forget official figures - go on an illegal streaming site and you'll often see the show among the 'popular' content. This show is simply huge.

For the most part these people will probably never care much about football. But in terms of international exposure, this is a massive coup - in fact, I can't think of a single, promotional effort that could bring as much widespread attention to our football club - especially one as easy and inexpensive as this.

Masterstroke.

I guarantee a bunch of randoms from Northern States or with no real interest in footy will tune in this week to watch Melbourne play Carlton. Oh wait, is the Wedding on that day?

Refer back to earlier post.

Thats just Aussie figures.

Worldwide Master Chef is the highest rating cooking show....

Sorry..Master Chef AUSTRALIA is the highest rating cooking show. I probably need to say English speaking but given its translated in more than 20 languages maybe the point is moot. Tis entirely possible China watches something else ;)

This show is a freak. Yep , not everyone's cup of tea or  braised beef reduced jus.....but it does have its little following.

Im glad it was US. Would have been livid had another team cracked that gig.

I know one of the chefs often used now as mentor and challeng. He's bloody good. This show put him on the world map.

To 100's of millions worldwide...we are the MELBOURNE footy club.

Someone take a bow.

And the relationship to the performance of the club is described? Showing up on crap like masterbeef does nothing for the club and will not translate to memberships so why do it. You have presumed to have some idea about my view of the club. You obviously have no idea and are presuming a lot

Just as easily I could draw all sorts ofwrong conclusions about a person who amongst 910000 other people get something from a show like  masterbeef. Anyway mate enjoy your reality tv.

let's just agree to disagree.. at the end of the day, it doesn't really offend me that they were on this shitty show, i just don't see it as a positive. as someone from northern nsw, if you think that people from the northern states will tune in to watch the dees v blues game as a result of the show, or even think of the dees again in their lives, you are delusional. but that's ok, it's a forum and can all have our own opinions ?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
