One of the many positives of the past few weeks included the fact that 4 guys(Hannan, Fritsch, Spargo Melks) who collectively kicked 10 goals last week, all up only kicked 1 this week but we still won by more than 6 goals!

The Return of Tommy Mac and the experiment/experiencing  with Weeds is obviously working. Together with the rtn of the old Gus &  natural footballers in Spargo & Fritsch adding new found depth, the Group is evolving into a new beast! Go Dees

Conversation between  Stevens and Umpire No 2 before start of 2nd half  of D's vrs Saints went a little like this......

if i (Umpire 2) see them dropping the ball incorrectly i will pick it up. Two minutes into 2nd half, have a guess what, he picks up the first for the match and throws in a fifty for good measure.

Can anyone explain why Weideman wasn't given a free for front on contact in the first qtr when the Saint player ran straight through him?

He did hit the ball with his fist but made no attempt to mark the ball. I thought this was an automatic 'front on' free? I have seen much lesser incidents paid....

Fairly easy to join the dots there hey

Really, Febes?  I've been going nuts here, trying to figure out how to join one dot!  What do you join it to?  To join the dots, surely you need a minimum of two dots!

Phew!  That's a relief.  I thought I was losing my mind...!  Truth is, I'm colour blind, and I find it difficult to see white things on a white background.  Okay, back to the footy!

GTFO Grundy! Media pundits take note, a few best ons doesn't put you in the convo for best ruck in the league.

I posted about this incident in a different thread and I feel like my take is right on the mark if I do say so myself. It did not warrant a free kick, the rule is if you don't make contact with ball, not if you don't attempt to mark it. It's normally a poorly adjudicated part of the game but this was the correct decision.

"He had a chance early in the game to impose himself when Hannan skied the ball. He needed to launch at it and mark it in his hands. He tried to mark it on his chest and this allowed Webster to run back and spoil without giving away a free kick for not looking at the ball. Great spoil but an easy free kick to draw for a marking player".

Saints player kept his eyes on the ball so no free kick

Took me back to the Jack Watts chest mark dropping heydays that one, though the kid has quite a few years to learn to take that one hands outstretched.

Just watched the replay of the first half after watching the second half yesterday. Two things - I really loved the way we regularly switched play rather than dumping it long down the wing. Gee, we looked dangerous every time we did this.

second - I counted about 85 throws from the Saints, not one of them was picked up. I swear the umpires must have felt sorry for them. Gees it was frustrating.

Thought at the time that Weid would have marked that if he’d used his hands, although he might have also worn a head in the midriff instead. Just a small nitpick, though. Was great to see him pluck one at full stretch for his first goal.

Weid should’ve extended his arms, would get the free every time. Or better still, take the mark.

Instead it was a brilliant effort from Webster.

Exactly what I posted on the game Day thread (well pretty much)

I'm in SA, been busy running wine business, finally watched replay and I am very impressed by the following:

The new-found co-ordination and gelling of the back line.

The intense forward pressure.

The simply brilliant bonus that Tom McDonald brings to the forward line. Sign this boy up, offer him what he wants, he is worth a fortune in Prizes, to quote Iggy.

I liked Hunt's wok.

Neale Bullen is NOWHERE NEAR AS BAD as the tragics on this site make out. He is a huge behind the scenes investor.

Jetta is worth his weight in gold.

Brayshaw could be anything.

St Kilda are not a bad side. Had they kicked straight...

The SA Port Adelaide supporters have the same opinion of J.Watts that the Watts critics had when he played for us.

There is good frisson between the forwards. Spargo, Hannan and Fritsch don't need to get thousands of possessions because they contest  ferociously.

Garlett is better than Harmes.

McCartin over Petracca and Brayshaw...........ooops

Brayshaw only relates to the compensation pick we got for Frawley though? If Frawley had stayed, then we'd probably not needed Lever for another 2-3 years, and could've made a massive offer to another mid. Hard to get a read on whether we've come out on top of that one .

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
