Superb win today.  We were tough, we ran them ragged and didn't give up, even in the last term when we were out on our legs.

If anyone complains about us stopping in the last term then don't listen to them.  Seriously, we've just played our third game in twelve days and we were always going to get tired.  We did the right thing by kicking 2 quick goals to start off the term and we killed off the contest.

The big positive for me was the game of Gus Brayshaw.   32 touches and plenty of clearances was bloody brilliant.  The confidence is back and, outside of a few poor kicks, he is showing the footy world why he was the third pick in his draft year.  What an addition he is to the side.

Hogan has continued his great season, Jones was terrific and our backline is working an absolute treat now.  Our forward line worked well again, too.

With Viney and Salem to potentially come back into the side we are really getting things going, now.  I'll take the 39 point win and if anyone is annoyed about giving up a few late ones then just laugh at them.  This is a fantastic performance from the side after some serious game time in the last week and a half.

DROP ANB PLEASE

Not even close to good enough.

Would have been an 80+ point win if we had any semblance of killer instinct.

We got the choccies... let's not get too carried away

Their kicking... atrocious. Flattered us somewhat.

On the plus...better use of the ground. Better linking.

Long way to go ;)

4 points. ..is 4 points

Wins are good!  We win when we should that’s now done.  Still need to get ruthless and not leak goals.  Percentage is going to decide our fate.  Must not leak late goals.

Just when we desperately need percentage we go to sleep and gift them two goals, ..not tough enough

We win a game of footy by close to 7 goals and do it with ease, and this is the garbage our supporters serve up.  You should be embarrassed.

We played really well for 3 quarters. Positioned ourselves beautifully to pile on a 60+ point win, but went to sleep in the last quarter.

Thats 2 weeks in a row we have clocked off in the last quarter.

Gus and Clarrie were fantastic. Yes the game wasn’t perfect, but was very concerned with this after two games so close together before so personally I am happy we won the last quarter despite the Saints having few on the bench.

need to build on this, win the next two and get structures right so we are full of confidence comes the game against the Crows

Good easy win, BUT STOP GIVING UP EASY GOALS AT THE END OF QUARTERS!!!

Those last two goals from the saints were so soft and all because we had decided the game was done. We should’ve won today by 60+, still no kill instinct. In the position we were in so many other teams would’ve powered on and murdered the Saints instead we given them charity goals at the end.

Its the next step we need to take and we seem to refuse to do it.

Saying that, happy with the win. Let’s get some momentum.

A wins a win. Years gone past we would of dropped that. Need to back this up and carry momentum fwd.

A couple of ptetty serious issues need to be adressed. Our handballs in close are some of the worst. We really need to clean that up. Plenty of times today we could cleared congestion with a well placed kick.

The two negatives are we did stop. They had 1 fit player on the bench. Shouldn’t have let them back it, you can trace their goals all back to over handballing which is a massive problem. They need to know when to play for meterage.

positives is we cracked in, Brayshaw was great, Jetta also great, Fritsch looked good , Harmes did some nice things this week. Lever looked good and Gawn was fantastic.

Oliver I love but he does over do the handballing at times.

It's true though. We miss finals by less than 1% last year, and 2 weeks in a row we have had teams beat and couldn't punish them. Hawthorn were absolutrly ruthless with us a few weeks back.

That being said, the first 3 quarters were very good. We had control of the game, applied good consistent pressure, and had an even spread of contributors.

Yes I agree, it was prob a 7/10 performance considering the opposition and still won by 7 goals.

Yes disappointing to concede the last 2 goals but there are more important things to work on.

You got an opinion of your own, or just want to play the man?

Lets face it Wiseblood, its a lot easier to point out the one or two bad points in a few sentences, rather than have the intelligence to critique the game....

Wake up to yourself this will come back and haunt us at the business end of the season.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
