That’s a bit condescending I reckon Febes, Weids does crack in

For god sake mate, it was a joke clearly and taking the P out of soft Demons supporters. If you haven't noticed I'm a Weid fan and have been providing his stats recently when everyone has been bagging him, I didnt say he doesn't have a crack either, I actually think he does. But I hope we don't have another Dawes on our hands and hope he starts clunking a few marks. It's a confidence thing with being a key forward, once it clicks then we'll know, he's only 21. I've actually watched his ruck work and think he does better than OK too, which did surprise me.

My apologies Febes, a bit early in the morning. I reckon he’s the quintessential project player, all the signs are there; I’m confident he will come good (including his contested marking)

He is so young, just 21 last month, not many tall forwards have done well by this age.

If he comes in his performance will not necessarily be rated on marks and goals, but his ability to fit into out system.

Jesse has been slammed by jono brown for poor leading patterns which impacts the team. Positioning and leading to the wrong areas can cause inside 50's to be marked by opposition or can cause the ball to be kicked on your head (see heeney mark) AND it can clog space for our other forwards to lead.

If Weid can lead at the right time and create space for TMAC, and bring the ball to ground when the ball is kicked to a contest then that is good enough at this point.

He's only 21, how long did it take Hawkins etc, I'm not giving up on him yet, which way he'll go we don't know. If Hogan does go back to WA we need him to be a success though.

He might come good in a couple of years. This is not the time to experiment and get game time into a player who has not so far been AFL standard when he plays in the seniors.

I tend to agree. It’s been stated already but if we don’t counter McGovern we’re going to get done.  The big marking babkmen are killing us as opp sides drop numbers bk to counter our clearance rates. They then attack us from half back. All potential aside...Is weird the right guy to bring in FOR THIS GAME is my question.

As usual on this site, posters will see what they want to because the reality stinks.

weidemann is a bust. KPF take a while but the good ones show potential in the meantime and any astute footy observer can see it.

Highlighting 6 tackles for a KPF is really clutching for straws. Half of us could go out and lay tackles.

move him on

He’s had some very good games at VFL level where he has kicked multiple goals.

He has had a couple against teams like Coburg who are hardly even VFL standard. In recent weeks he has performed a little better but hardly knocking the door down for selection at senior level. He should be allowed to play out this year at Casey which will include a finals series. IMO he will learn more from that than getting a drubbing in Perth. Lets see what he looks like after another preseason in 2019.

People are kidding themselves if they think Weid hasn't earned a call up to replace Hogan. His last month at VFL level has been very good.

Round 19 -    2 goals...   couldnt find the official stats for some reason, but the coaches review said Weid was imposing and just missed out on votes.
Round 18  -   24 disposals, 7 marks, 7 hitouts, 2 goals
Round 16  -  12 disposals, 4 marks, 7 hitouts, 2 goals
Round 15  -   17 disposals, 6 marks, 7 hitouts, 4 goals

Round 17  was a bye.

He could have done better during the bye.

It's a huge step up and improvement on last year, so he's tracking nicely.

...and he kicked 4 in a tight game against the dogs.

6 against the Hawks last year...so...

Spent more time in the ruck.

Played a lot of footy in inclement conditions where you might even struggle to get a kick.

Look, we're in a time where no one is kicking the big bags of goals.

There's no Frosty Miller or Freddie Cook around these days, that time has passed us by.

It's not the measure of a player now.

Weid will fill a role and do it better than anyone else we've got at present.

His time has come.

Like it or not we need to know if he can step up in a big game and it might as well be now because if he can't then there's no point us being in finals just to make up the numbers. Better to have good intel coming into the trade/draft period.

Hogan, Lever and Viney leave a big hole in our structure.

As an aside, remember how Boyd was at the Dogs??? Couldn't catch a cold then suddenly turned it around at the end of 2016.

You just never know.

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention.
