Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No Demons in the 50-41 range.

Clearly we have no respect or recognition from any players in the league and I'm indignant at this.

Am I doing it right?

For the record, I expect Oliver, Hogan, Viney, Petracca, Gawn, Lever, T McDonald, Hibberd, Jetta and Jones to be in the Top 10 when it's released.

Ha. You only named 10 players from the Dees to be in the top 10. You well know that at least 11 Dees should be in the Top 10. At least.

Nic Nat makes the cut when he hasn't even made it on to the park last year.

Besides that, he has a fairly underwhelming set of career averages - 12 disposals, 2 marks and 24 HO's is hardly top 50 imo.

Noted for a few freakish plays.

Nic Nat also has interesting hair.

As a comparison Stefan Martin averages 16+ possessions a game and a tick over 21 hit outs but gets about 1/50th of the publicity. It is not his fault but Natanui is the leagues most overhyped player.

Clayton Oliver at 32.

32. Clayton Oliver

Melbourne
Midfielder
Last year's ranking: -
Official AFL Player Rating: 71
Debut: 2016
Games: 35
AFL Fantasy value: $715,000

A breakout 2017 season for the young midfielder which saw him win his maiden best and fairest award. Improving his professionalism with attention to his training standards and diet proved to be major factors in his rise. In just his second season, Oliver stamped himself as one of the AFL's top inside midfielders, ranking No.1 in the AFL for handballs, No.7 for clearances and No.3 for contested possessions.

Take a moment to appreciate how good he already is, and that he is ours.

It will be interesting to see where he takes his game this year. I got the feeling last season that he under-estimates how damaging he could also be on the break and once on the outside...

Also I suspect with Petracca and Salem coming in Clarry might spend a bit more time forward.

I watched a bit of the north game and had watched a couple of strong overhead marks from him in pack situations - he’s done it a few times over the first few seasons (and his style is reminiscent of Dangerfield)- and I suspect he is better in that department than many give him credit for - this will only hold him in good stead if he drifts forward...

Gawn at 25. Difficult to see any other Melbourne player making the top 20 aside from perhaps Hibberd?
25. Max Gawn

Melbourne
Ruck
Last year's ranking: 17
Official AFL Player Rating: 17
Debut: 2011
Games: 74
AFL Fantasy value: $605,000

It will be a slimmer Gawn who takes to the field in 2018 and his weight loss should help him cover the ground even better. The big man dealt with a serious hamstring injury last year but in 2016 was widely considered the premier ruckman in the AFL, so Gawn will be keen to reclaim that crown.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
