Other:  Salem.

"According to Champion Data, Salem attended the second-most centre bounces (21) of any Melbourne player against North Melbourne in Saturday's JLT Community Series hit-out in Tasmania, just one less than clearance specialist Clayton Oliver.

Salem gathered 19 disposals at 84.2 per cent efficiency, winning five clearances and contributing two goal assists in a standout performance".

Salem is the quiet achiever - so silky that people just don't notice what he does.

Agree on all counts, but particularly that Lever will be a huge help. Lever's leadership is impressive and love how he looks to set up the back six. The two will need to develop synergy but good signs so far.

I had to laugh hearing Gary Lyon comment a couple of times about the risk Lever was taking zoning well off (in front actually) of his opponent. Der fred. That's his go and why we've got him.

But it does mean we will inevitably leak some goals over the back and that the other defenders, particularly Tmac's younger brother, will have to cover at some stages (as Lever will too of course), which he did at one point where he came in to swoop on a ball that had got goal side (in the last q?). I have no idea how far he came from (which is one reason i much prefer watching games live) but hit the ball at speed and cleared it saving a near certain goal.

Yes, well on Stats, Lever was our third worst player, better by one point than Brayshaw and by several points  over Pedersen who played half a game

may turn out alright but he's no star just  yet. I want to see Frost

All 3 fantastic, really hard to pick.

An in form Gawn is a salivating prospect. If he regains AA this year we're top 4 IMO.

ANB has been progressing as steadily as any player I've seen in recent times. His work ethic and attitude must be of the highest order.

Bayley has already made me forget Jack Watts. Hopefully doesn't go missing in JLT 2 because at this stage he's making me slightly moist and I wanna see him in round 1.

I could go on. Noteworthy - Melk looks likes he's ready to breakout to elite this year. As are a few more. We'll find out soon enough.

God damn I'm excited for the season actual now ...

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

The Demons head back to Melbourne after an embarrassing loss to the Dockers to take on the Magpies at the MCG on Kings Birthday. With a calf injury to Lachie Hunter and Jacob van Rooyen possibly returning from injury who comes in and who goes out?
