IF we wind up with pick 5, who would we be targeting? Who are the best midfielders with good pace, agility and disposal? Rankine looks the pick of the bunch, but won't last until 5 and will likely head home to SA if drafted by a non-SA club.

As of today, we have about 5 picks.

That is 36,46,54,62,65.

No need to worry about top 20 draft potentials

This is my mock draft for Melbourne

36 - McKenzie

46 - Stack

54 - Ayton-Delaney

62 - Munn

65 - Bedford

ROOKIE - Hind

What do you think of Munn Normy? I think we need a developing tall forward considering where Hogan is at.

Edited by WERRIDEE

That draft would be ideal. Very good choices IMO.

Mckenzie, Stack, Ayton-Delaney and Bedford all have pace. Real pace. Our outside run “development” would be addressed.

Munn is a very good young forward and needs 2-3,years more development.  At pick 62, definitely we would have to seriously consider.

I like either Lockhart, Bewley, Hore or Hind as potential rookies. Hind again is the pace and break the line style of player.  At 23, he could be in the selection mix early. I think we wouldn’t be disappointed with Hind as a rookie.

You did mention Jack Bytel’s injury history which has affected his draft credentials. His problem that he has a lingering back injury and has hardly played this season. You would need a good medical report to take him in the draft.

Jack Bytel

We now have picks 23, 28, 54, 62 and 91

PICK 23 - Sturt

PICK 28 - Duursma

PICK 54 - Bedford

PICK 62 - Munn

PICK 91 - Hind

ROOKIE - C.Wagner

other than corey wagner, what sort of players are all these dudes @WERRIDEE?

how many will make an impression in 2019?

Norm Smith knows more than me hopefully he can give you a run down.

If they get drafted to the same club, one of them will need to shave their head or grow a beard.

Indeed. Commentators can't even tell Jetta and Garlett apart, let alone Demons half-back Christian Salem and the downhill Winter Olympic sporting event slalom.

I still think Ely Smith and Tom McKenzie are top 30. Jordan Clark, Sydney Stack, Riley Bowman, Jez Mclennan, Sam Sturt and Jarrod Cameron also unlucky to miss this list.

Thats top 38.

all the recruiters will know that jason taylor would love ely smith and ned mchenry. they are exactly the type of player that he loves.

We’re back to our potential 23 and 28.  In order of my preferences

Ely Smith

Bailey Williams

Sam Sturt

Xavier OHalloran

Chayce Jones

Xavier Duursma

Tom McKenzie

Sydney Stack

I think these are the likely available and best options.  Though might get a Zak Butters and Liam Stocker who could drop.  Unlikely but you never know.

The other one.

Rylee West looks a cracker. Can we bid for him even though we don't have a 1st routine pick?

Toby Bedford at 31 on that list. Handy number.

There’s been plenty of talk about the top 25 prospects but what about 26-50? Here’s Matt Balmer’s latest -

If we somehow snag Xavier O' Halloran at our first couple of picks it'll be a massive steal! Classy inside and outside mid who'll compliment our growing midfield stocks.

Captained Vic Metro.

I agree. I like O'Halloran a lot. He is a great long kick of the ball too. He can kick it 60m pretty comfortably. Only question mark is his speed I guess and he doesn't have the quickest hands.

The more you read from this guy, the more you realise he has no idea. An absolute fluke getting what the hawks did with this guy in charge.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
