It was disappointing.

I spoke to someone from the membership department via phone in regards to customising the kids cards back in October, it would have been nice for them to receive the cards with their favourite players on there in time for Christmas.

I did receive a "sorry about that" though.

I am sure that meant a lot to the kids!

I remember someone saying last year that the packs aren't done by the club but some outsourced company who takes care of all the membership packages of all clubs. At least most Melbourne members got there's before Christmas, my wife is a cats member and hasn't received anything yet

As I said earlier Dr. Probably the same rocket scientists who sent out the finals info last year.

That is true and this year there have been a few hiccups that the Membership Team are trying to rectify. Unfortunately the issues are not across the board so unless a member contacts the Club it is hard to identify those who have a problem with their membership packages. From my own experience, I suggest to anyone if they have a missing article from their package or have not received their membership to contact the Club. They are usually very quick to respond.

Well that makes it all better then doesn’t it!!!

Thats one of the things that annoys me. It not rocket science putting together a membership pack but the way it gets done sometimes u would think u would need a PhD to do it.

Exactly DemonOx, I spoke to them directly on the phone back in October and I could hear the person typing on the computer  when I was requesting which player is to go with each name.

Therefore, you would assume the information was entered correctly at that point in time.

When I called them about the mistake, they took the names again, threw me the sorry line and advised me the cards will be posted again. Being a week or so before Christmas there was no chance I was receiving their cards by Christmas.

That’s poor form hopefully they get it right second time round but I wouldn’t hold my breath if I was u.

We are still not flash in a few areas.

I seemed to have received ( in the membership pack ) nearly all of what could be regarded as the 'full kaboodle', as did my wife. These few extra scarves will be good to hand out to others in the extended family who currently do not own one - as nothing is wrong, faded or farnarkled to warrant a replacement of previous largesse from the Club that assists with neck warming at the 'G. At the Club's membership department, I guess that different people do different things on different days and hence, in my case, Vive la Difference!

I would be surprised if it is done internally Deemania.

I would be confident that it is contracted out.

"Be part of the journey"

An overworked and overused phrase that is used by politicians, bureaucrats, and just about everyone else  that has no conviction or passion.

Perhaps they could have added ""as we go forward, be part of the journey"

And perhaps qualify the slogan by stating that Rome was not built in a day.

From a marketing perspective, a big fail.

Bleed Red and Blue, Raise Hell or something that stirs something, anything.

Is, or was, "Be part of the journey" being used by the club? I ask because I haven't seen it anywhere and in a tweet today the club has used "#RaiseHell".

Anyone know how the membership tally is going? I miss the rolling counter on the club website

So much for the Collingwood game last year being the end of the world as some on Demonland where claiming. 200 down is nothing beat the Cats round 1 and we will eat those 200 for brunch.

Win that Collingwood game and we are 3000 in front. Need to grow not maintain.

I agree Dr D...that is the point .. we should be on an upward trend at this time of the year. Have a look at Essendon for example with their push for 70,000 members.

There is no doubt that the Collingwood game not to mention a few others put a spoke in the wheels of our sputtering bandwagon. Win the first three games and we might still be able to trend upwards but to stand still in this game is to go backwards.

You dont know that. Its a straight out guess.

Best way to do that is stay positive at all times & ignore the negativity by some on Demonland.

MFC have some of the best supporters in the AFL they have proved their resilience year after year.

And like all clubs we have another group of band wagon supporters.  They are the group you need to get onboard for large growth

We've changed our seats for this season, and have been waiting on new cards for over a month now... they've apparently been sent out twice yet never received.

Not great considering we forked out over a grand.

All the more reason to stay positive at all times.

You might actually be helping the club by just that little act alone - remaining positive when others wont.

I Have been a member 7 + years but have failed to be enthused about this year, perhaps it's just the whole matchhday day experience is so boring. It's not the club's fault but it's difficult to really enjoy the modern day game.

I'm just turning up the stereo......type.  The slight decrease in membership numbers at this time of year, as compared to last year, is because any self respecting, Range Rover driving Dees supporter, who has a fondness for snow,  would be directing their entire attention to the Winter Olympics.  (Tongue....Cheek)

Agree 100%, I will renew at some stage no rush but really have no desire to watch AFL, take the emotional link to the club you support out the AFL product isn't entertaining, footballers are robotic and over coached.

Can't agree. In my opinion it's still the most entertaining game in the world. I've been following the game for over 50 years, and contrary to the views of the doomsayers, the standard today is higher than it's ever been.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
