Rd 1 Team with Lever

Ablett would take him to the cleaners, apart from anything else he's still too fast for Bugg.

Not to mentioned much smarter

On Garlett, he was 2nd in the league for tackles inside forward 50 in 2017. He is also our highest goal scorer since joining Melbourne FC 3 seasons ago.

So, he's our highest goal scorer AND our best defensive forward. Leaving him out of the team is f*cking laughable. I know some of us are excited at what Frisch MIGHT become, but let's not overlook what Garlett IS, and that's the best forward on our list.

B: Hibberd, O McDonald, Jetta

HB: Vince, Lever, Hunt

C: Salem, Jones, Neal-Bullen

HF: Melksham, Hogan, Petracca

F: Hannan, Pedersen, Garlett

R: Gawn, Oliver, Tyson

I: Harmes, Lewis, Brayshaw, Fritsch

Viney and T McDonald to return in early rounds of season to replace whoever is not producing.

Toss the magnets around cause it's hard to tell outside of the centre bounce, whose playing where, but I think that's the side.

Oh the things a good cheroot can do for you ... and two crimson rosellas (red and blue) sat beside me...

Down Back... Wags Jordie Hibbo Scar Jake and Cool Nev

In the Guts... Maxwell Track Olly Melksh Stretch and Frost (on Blicavs)

Scorers...  Hoges Jeffy ANB Harmes Hunt Bugg

Inter... Salem Tyson Gus Bernie

Emerg... Fritsch Hannan Pedo

There seems to be a few announcements on the AFL site of debuts for some players at the crows and Saints. I know that there were Tuesday/Wednesday announcements by the Dees last season when players were going to debut.

Can we infer from this that there will be no debuts for any Dees players in R1?

I’d play Hunt on Ablett.

Was thinking earlier who we should play on Ablett, if he plays mostly forward.  I was thinking Jetta, but Hunt makes more sense probably.

I was thinking on the wing, for Hunt, to cut off either Danger or Lil Gaz, when they're on-ball.

With Lever down back, he, Lew and Salem can aid to cut off those 2 Cats, when forward.

B: VINCE, O.MCDONALD, LEWIS

C: PETRACCA, OLIVER, JONES

HF: MELKSHAM, PEDERSEN, NEAL-BULLEN

F: GARLETT, HOGAN, HANNAN

IC: SALEM, BRAYSHAW, JETTA, FRITSCH

EMERG: STRETCH

CASEY

B: PETTY, HUTCHINS, WHITE

HB: J.WAGNER, FROST, J.SMITH

C: C.WAGNER, MAYNARD, BAKER

HF: KENT, T.SMITH, BALIC

F: JOHNSTONE, WEIDEMAN, BUGG

FOLL: KING, KENNEDY HARRIS, SPARGO

IC: GENT, MUNRO, SCOTT, FILIPOVIC

Found it hard to split Bugg and Fritsch for the last spot and just a gut feel that Fritsch will be most unlucky.

Like the team I think Peddlers needs 2 perform  well 2 stay in side once TMac comes back.

Frost on Blicavs is a good assignment.

Frost won’t play.

He is so overrated on demonland.

He lacks the football specific skills needed to play at this level.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
