With that logic I'm going to put the house on Winx .

But only for a place.

well it paid 1.02 last outing for a place.

It took over 2 mins to do.

average house price in Melb ...around $850, 000

so a return of $17000  for less time than to make a coffee....not too shabby ;)

Don't be ridiculous

You don't own a house son

Pseudo intellectuals like you spend your time on forums trying to make others feel silly, and thus avoid any introspection.

And stalking the posts of your intellectual superiors :)

Please. I'm a lefty Green voter. ProDee's right wing views are well known here. It appears we are of a like mind on this issue. This is footy. Don't link this footy club decision with politics.

I can clearly see why you call yourself Stretch.

You've discounted Stamp duty, and real estate agents fees.

So a loss overall.

For those interested.

For the Watts haters, please direct comments to Ralphy, I'm just doing a copy and paste.

IS JACK WATTS REALLY THAT BAD?
Jon Ralph - Herald Sun

JACK Watts is gone from Melbourne, pushed out in an amazing turn of events.

He probably doesn’t care to look back any more given he has moved on to touring clubs like Geelong and Port Adelaide.

"Dogs, Demons want it both ways on Jake Stringer and Jack Watts, says their manager"

"Who do they think they are? Player managers? We'll do the having it both ways, thank you very much", Connors continued.

"It's a total backflip, for mine. He's contracted, so there's an option. But again, it's really hard to go back to an organisation where he's probably not welcome."

"We'll do the backflipping around here" said Connors sternly. "And we will backflip, have it both ways, and do whatever else it takes to extract more fees from .... I mean, get better deals for my clients. The clubs can go to hell. Unless they up their offers in which case I will praise their professionalism."

I really hope the trade goes down to the wire Thursday week, and then somebody accidentally faxes /emails the paperwork at 2:01pm.

Then Watts kicks a career high 5 goals/12 marks  in our season opening win against Collingwood next year.

(etc)

I presume "Ralphy" read some Champion Data stats and learned that JW is elite for hard arsed-ness, top 2 in the comp for crawling over broken glass, and third for stopping bullets with his teeth.

Maybe he's never actually watched MFC play?

I don't rate Jon Ralph's article.  But I think the question in the headline is a good one.  Obviously I'm not in the camp that replies 'yes'.

This thread has become unreadable. The thread is embarrassing irrespective if Jack stays or goes.

The way it is going there will not be any trades done. this is amazing. Boring too!

Stephen Wells just said on Trade Radio that the Cats are unlikely to be able to do a deal for Jack Watts to come to Geelong.

So why in the world did they bother with a tour and showing some interest in him?  Or are the Cats being tight with what they have?  Either way, sounds more and more like Jack will head to Port Adelaide.

Talk about going out on a limb..

What is that supposed to mean?

90% of people have him gone...

Seems there are some who would "dream of recruiting him".

Dangerfield?   Roos?  Hinkley, etc etc.  Lot of interest...

Dangerfield has first-hand experience, from this year, of how Watts could strip him of the ball and deliver...

This IS, clearly, about how we judge people.  Watts is a larger-than-life PERSON, and has attracted opinions like a magnet ever since he curved in that first goal for Sandringham.  I think he has a charismatic presence, and the Moloneys, Neelds, Joneses of the club have never understood his particular differentness.  But, in their unimaginative focus on what they themselves were, they couldn't accept and embrace the obvious excellences he brought, in skill, intelligence and human culture (morale - like Gawn).  Some would say a club needs such people in the goldfishbowl.

Some historian once observed that nobody studying American History had any idea whether or not Abraham Lincoln balanced the budget; nobody cared either, because he abolished slavery.  Lots of illegitimate children, I've heard, to coloured women - starting to get criticised now, but not really what his place in history really is either.  Well, Watts' contribution to the club has been woefully handled since day one.  His leads have been ignored forever, and you say he can't mark overhead - I remember a lot of last-line-of-defence marks he's taken late in the quarter.  But, even since we have all known he is the absolute best finisher in the team, still they ignore his leads into space.  Jones as much as anyone.  Watts' place in the history of MFC is going to be recognised as a lost opportunity; and while there'll no doubt be criticism of his application, the story of how he was not boosted up by being USED to the maximum, not recognised for what he was, is going to be clearer and clearer over time.  I'll bet it will be coupled with the criticism of Jurrah's "defensive skills", which drowned out appreciation of what he did bring - unmatched goal-kicking - and general kicking - instinct and prowess.

It is so disappointing to see diversity at MFC being flushed away in the general trend to right-wing thuggery that is ascendant in the western world today.  So disappointing.  I'm old, and I remember different times.

I wasn't going to have any more to say on Demonland, but, boy some of the flat denial of the obvious is provoking.

Sorry, but are ypu suggesting Dangerfield has a say in the recruitmemt at Geelong? If so, he absolutely doesn't.

Think their lack of picks is really starting to bite. They were hoping to persuade players to head to GCS so they didn't have to use their highest pick on GAJ, and that didn't happen. They were hoping to get a big compo pick for Motlop, and that's unlikely to happen. So the cupboard is bare.

You could be right about PA.

No, I think the club wants to recruit him, and they're using Dangerfield & Selwood to try to win him over. Good bait.

He's 100% gone, has been ever since he started answering calls from other clubs.

he doesnt care who plays for the Dees once they give 100%

he finds all the hysteria in this thread amusing and looks down his nose at us fools.

but he is crying on the inside

The chances of him staying just went up I reckon.

  • GAMEDAY: Brisbane

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are back on the road with a massive challenge ahead — facing the reigning premiers, the Brisbane Lions, at their Gabba fortress. The Lions are licking their wounds after a shock draw in Tasmania last week, while Melbourne’s season hangs in the balance. Can the Dees defy the odds and pull off a miracle to keep their razor thin finals hopes alive?

  • NON-MFC: Round 10

The Sir Doug Nicholls Round kicks off in Darwin with a Top 4 clash between the Suns and the Hawks. On Friday night the Swans will be seeking to rebound from a challenging start to the season, while the Blues have the Top 8 in their sights after their sluggish start. Saturdays matches kick off with a blockbuster between the Collingwood and Kuwarna with the Magpies looking to maintain their strong form and the Crows aiming to make a statement on the road. The Power face a difficult task to revive their season against a resilient Cats side looking to make amends for their narrow loss last week. The Giants aim to reinforce their top-eight status, while the Dockers will be looking to break the travel hoodoo. The sole Saturday game is a critical matchup for both teams, as the Bulldogs strive to cemet their spot in the top six and the Bombers desperately want break into the 8. Sundays start with a bottom 3 clash between the Tigers and Kangaroos with both teams wanting to avoid the being in wooden spoon contention. The Round concludes with the Eagles still searching for their first win of the season, while the Saints look to keep their finals hopes alive with a crucial away victory. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.
