Whilst certainly heavy handed , I too suggested something similar some ways back in this thread. I.e tear it up a with a proviso to 'revisit ' in a month.  That is to say  Lad you well and truly f'd that up didnt YOU....not us...YOU !!

Now you have big choices to make and much amends if we're to go forward in sync.  And quite frankly...why not ??

I actually wonder if there might not be something to that. You're either ON...or you're OFF   .Theyre not really indicating to anyone that they are 100% Melbourne

Perfect!!!

A lot of comments here on these guys not being best 22 and let's be realistic, they are not but at least possess the attitude that will give you every conceivable chance to become part of something great.

First time in 10 years we might play finals and a bunch of fringe players knocking on the door of an injury riddled side choose to break team rules and get on the pizz with 6 days between games. It's not like they wouldn't have known they were vying for senior selection or that they were unaware of team rules.

Honestly, how dumb must these guys be?

I think they hang out with....

Well, the blowtorch is on which ever of the four are elevated into the team vs Carlton, as they've blow some credits making themselves unavailable for Friday. Similar to Lewis for his hit on Crips earlier in the year.

Who said 'on the pizz', the over reaction on here is laughable, if the have one beer it would make them ineligible to play, not banned, barred, publicly executed       and Goody to set an example decided best course of action, to resolve the issue quickly, except on here where the hand wringers are still going 2 days later

I also find the hypocrisy distasteful as some of the hand wringers have consistently lambasted the 4 players in question as not being AFL standard, of course the could have replaced White and Wagner, who themselves are not AFL standard, and made a huge difference to the poor performance that was dished up by at least 18 last Friday

Demonland is a discussion forum, Saty.

Four selfish, undisciplined players having club-imposed match bans (when our injury list is in dire straits) is a topical issue.

If you're so enraged by other people discussing such things, why even partake? It seems that all you're doing is belittling posters actually contributing to the discussion.

Your hyperbolic defence of a group of dumb footballers breaking team rules is illogical and laughable, but not unexpected Saty. "Publicly executed"? Lol!

One minute you say only the 4 players know exactly what happened, next you're claiming they might've had only one beer. One beer! Too funny chap. How many young footballers stop at one beer?

Of course, you are welcome to your opinion, as are all apologists.

If you take it as belittling, then perhaps it is you that doesn't have the stomach for on line discuusion.

I am in no way enraged, just find the over reaction, hyperbole and hypocrisy fascinating

The issue has been dealt with by the Club, the hand wringing and tut tutting is going to achieve what?

Misquoting, the team rule is one beer and they are ineligible, nobody knows any of the facts

I am not apologising, just offering an opinion that the Club dealt with it, didn't stop them playing for Casey, or judging by the result maybe it did?, my opinion is that they were stupid, but then again we have a forum of posters who have never [censored] up in their life and impacted others, yeah right

now...arguably to be taken with a grain ( or truck ) of salt but if the scenario ( as described by Ralph the mouth )  was even remotely close to the truth then for anyone to'continue  regardless means , most likely, as Moonie hints, ONE beer was not the case, more likely One case of beer for all as it were... known colloquially as a 'slab'...was

In for a tinnie in for a ....and so forth.

Yes...arguably conjecture.    4 blokes having a beer........ a beer ????  hmmm

You could see it getting to a point where it's ...oh wtf ..too late for us anyways !!

I appreciate your training reports and that you are a staunch defender of the club and the players, but there is seriously no defending this action.

None of these guys deserve a life ban, but they broke very simple team rules. If they can't manage to stay off alcohol for 6 days, we have a bigger issue here. Given both the seniors and Casey lost, it would have been best for everyone had they not compromised their recovery by behaving unprofessionally. Who knows how this impacted their performance at Casey, let alone how badly it stuffed up our team selection.

It might not be a big deal to you, but it's a big deal to the club, so much so, that we chose to compromise team selection by banning them from AFL for a week. That is a really really big call when we are struggling so much with injuries, and this was another 'must win' game. I don't think this was just a matter of 4 players have one beer too many, they obviously drank enough that it impacted their training performance the next day.

That these 4 are actually battling to get a game, makes it all the more baffling. JHK just got a contract extension too! I have no idea what they were thinking.

The most disappointing thing is that some of these fools are going to play this week due to circumstances, whereas I don't think they'd get a senior game for weeks if the situation was different, and rightly so.

really have no idea what your issue is, unless you are doing your usual trolling?

an incident occurred, we are discussing it. Clearly they are idiots and if they had of not done it, they would have helped us on friday night as they are the form players in the twos.

are you saying only if you've never had a drink can you comment on someone having a drink?

your comments make no sense. if you don't wish is discuss this, don't come on this page

No twenty-something footballer gets together with 3 teammates to have only one beer and gets caught. Of course nobody knows all the facts except that a group of fringe players vying for senior selection in an injury riddled team were dumb enough to break the team rules for getting on the pizz (or just for you chap I'll call it 'one beer') with a six day break between games.

As I said, could they get any dumber? I truly hope not.

But keep kirvin Saty!

Point is they didn't follow team rules .... Goodwin is setting standards/culture & making sure players earn the right to play senior footy not by default! It's the players who have let down their teammates & club here!

That is the most accurate thing said today bb.

This is really beginning to [censored] me off.

Who are the best teams of the last 20 years?

Hawthorn - Croad, Hodge, Lewis etc...

Collingwood - the rat pack

Brisbane - Voss, Brown, Pyke

Geelong - Stevie J, Cameron Ling Abblett junior prefers grass to turf

Drinking builds culture, it doesn't destroy it.

Sorry, sometimes i find it a bit hard to work out if posters are being sarcastic, post rock ironic or are actually being serious. Is this a serious post or sarcasm?

The other day i opened a thread on the Demonland dark web (i think it was was about climate change, or maybe it was about Trump - either way i fled as soon as i could). I had the same thought.

Perhaps an even dumber comment than the act of what the fermented four actually did.

You should put that to Gil as the AFL's new moto for 2018. You'll go far.

I can't decide whether the stupidity or the lack of professionalism/drive frustrates me more.

Didn't any of them want to be picked for the seniors? Didn't any of them even think they were a chance to be picked for the seniors?

Defies logic doesn't it Your. It's almost like they are incapable of engaging a brain between them.

Did you notice the result on Friday night Wrecker. Hardly the stuff of champions. At least two of that four would have played had they not blown it and the result could have been a lot closer.

Not mutually independent...run with both !!

I suspect that three of them think they are on the outer. That does not excuse it but They may think we have been confined to casey and if you look at their lack of appearances they may be right.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
