I know it's early we should be just focusing on wins, but some on here are hoping we look at Sam Reid as another tall forward. How about Jack Gunston his form this year has been that crash hot but he is another creative forward who looks more dangerous than Reid does. When he is on he can regularly kick a few kicked 5 on the weekend?

Jack's been mentioned in a number of other threads.

Love to have him in red and blue

Much better than many other 'targets' mentioned elsewhere.

No. Is a creative lead up forward which is not what we need. Also would cost significant overs for what he is worth.

Bfre...think about it for a moment though.

One of our biggest problems going forward is actually spotting up a lead. Its bombs away baby. Silly stuff really. Nothing wrong in my book hitting up a bloke 35-40 out who CAN kick. It is the option we dont have much in the way of currently..

Gunston is a 50 goal a season forward... we're not really over endowed with them.

They'll command a 1st round pick.

No thanks

Our window is opening. We need extra ability now.

What would you rather spend it on ?

Drafting the best midfield talent available in preparation for the succession plan when Lewis, Vince and Jonesy hit the wall. Which for the frst two, may be happening as we speak or has at least begun to. Jonesy obviously still a gun with plenty of great footy left, but he will be 30 soon.

Also, with question marks on Angus Brayshaw, we must let Jason Taylor weave his magic in Round 1 of of this years draft and continue to add to the midfield.

Trading our first rounder for Gunston would be a big mistake.

Is it because the players streaming forward don't know how to spot up a lead or the forwards don't lead up? This season so far is hard to tell when the structures have been so screwy without Hogan and Watts/Pederson in the ruck half the time but I think it's the former. If we were to look for another tall I'd prefer Reid who granted has less consistent output (mainly through injury) but will cost less in coin and trade (nothing) and is adept as a forward on the lead and in the air. I still think our biggest issue is ball carrying mids who can spot and hit the leading target. If we can find one of those that would be my preferred (granted doubt we can get in the race for Kelly).

I understand the ideas behind drafting mids ..or anyone..    Thats a strategy....for later.. as such.  At some point in ascending you have to switch tracks  ( in my view ) and start embellishing the NOW.   It might not be Gunston , it's just an example but I firmly believe that we have to stop 'card collecting ' now and start playing the cards we have with a view to actually winning something.  There are player-types you just  or rather should  grab when they become available.

Picks are just currency..thats all

Similar player to Watts...

...now showing that he struggles when not getting silver service.

I think we stick with what we've got and look to fill more pressing needs.

Reality is ALL forwards struggle if supply dodgy.

Conversely....if supply not so bad and improving  then an experienced capable fwd is a goldmine.

I think Gunstan is worth a late first round pick and would suit our side perfectly. He is a clever player who can fit into any forward structure and is a dead-eye kick.

Philosophically, I would prefer we traded our picks as I think you get better value and greater certainty from trading them.

Theres a time for using picks...a time for trading them.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
