AFL Round 9 - Non MFC Games 2017

Featured Replies

So many games this year teams seem to score in blocks of unanswered goals....It seems it takes 25mins for 1 team to work out how to counter the other teams game plans.

And this is why I don't rate Geelong. I started watching during the half time break and thought I'd ruined my tip. I reckon I'll be alright. Gee, it's disappointing that we lost to Geelong. Bunch of pretenders.

They just need to keep Dangerfield and Selwood out of it in the last quarter and they'll win.

Tonight's game really putting an end to the theory that Geelong are a team of front runners propped up by 4 good players.

They've only got 2.

I never thought they were a 4 player team. They've been a two player team for a season and a bit now.

Doggies were fantastic in that quarter ... their whole team just seems to switch up a few gears.

They're never out of the contest.  They know they can claw their way back into any game.  Being over 5 goals down at the Cattery is a lead not many sides would have overturned in the last few decades.

They haven't won yet, but if they keep Dangerwood quiet in the last quarter then they're home.

I’d be pretty mental if I got Selwood in a tackle and the umpire told me I’d got him in the back.

I hate Joel Selwood.  I don't care how good he is, he is a ducking, whinging sook who can't handle a tag and goes dirty when his side is behind.  I have no idea why he is so celebrated in the footy community.

…or high.

How lucky have Geelong been with the umpires and what an idiot Travis Cloke still is.

What an absolute disgrace. First the Murphy decision was a shocker, then they called play on when it wasn't and the Bulldog gets tackled.

I'm so glad Geelong are going nowhere. What a lucky bunch of mugs. It's all gone their way in this quarter. What can the Bulldogs do?

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.

The Demons were sloppy all day and could not stop the run and carry of the fast moving Hawthorn as the Hawks cruised to an easy 36 point win. Is the season over yet?
