Mayne looked very slow. Poor pick up.

Chris Mayne is the most outside reciever I have ever seen, refuses to go, is slow and should be dropped next week.a poor player IMV

Sydney got screwed, no more no less....

When was the last time Geelong, Sydney and Hawthorn all missed the 8 in the same season?

Lets do our part today to make this dream come closer to being a reality.

Yes he was.  I'm not suggesting sympathy for him, quite the contrary. I think there should not be a 50m for grabbing a bloke doing that even if the umpire  hasn't got around to calling play on.  There seems to be little sympathy for the man on the mark when a 50m penalty is applied in those cases.  Just let the players make the decision about whether play on has occured.  And ping them if they get it wrong.

fair enough, and i think that the ump did that last night by just using his common sense

the other one i didn't like last night was the pendlebury. free, should have gone against him for kicking in danger. it was that action that put his legs in the frame and anyway kicking off the ground in that situation was the more dangerous action. hannebury didn't dive on the ball, just went low fearlessly to pickup the ball

you can't take the legs out from under someone - free kick every day of the week, and lucky not to snap pendlebury's legs in half.

I'd argue that contact was after Pendlebury had almost kicked the Sydney player's head off. Should have been a free kick to Sydney before Collingwood.

I agree. Kicking in danger came first

Haven't seen that called in ages. Last one I really remember was the one that broke Jeff White's jaw.

Yes. Another conveniently forgotten rule

North are starting to remind me of the Black Knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail

Black Knight: Come on then!
King Arthur: What?
Black Knight: Have at you! [Kicks Arthur]
King Arthur: You are indeed brave, good Sir Knight, but the fight is mine.
Black Knight: Oohh, had enough, eh?
King Arthur: Look, you stupid bastard, you've got no arms left!
Black Knight: Yes I have.
King Arthur: Look!
Black Knight: Just a flesh wound

have seen it called a few times in recent years

btw iirc the jeff white kick to the face wasn't called as kicking in danger. might be bad memory though, he certainly wasn't charged

Wonder if Viney will do some kicking in Danger today...

GWS player put down behind play, with a strike from behind. Saw the arm come out and the player go down, but couldn't see where hit and with what. Commentators thought it was Turner.

Can't wait to see how the MRP and the media treat this one.

I hope not. I don't want any more suspensions

Norf defeated. That is a nice mood setter before the Dees game.  I'm happy.

Not to worry.... Tonight's their grand final and they'll suffer a big let down next week (I hope)

And they have to travel back from perth

?

Crows are starting to pull away from the Power.

They were like us in Q2 - dominant everywhere except the scoreboard.

Now they're making their opportunities count.

Freo are good and will be hard to beat without big Max G.

Freo were beaten last week by Port by 100 points.

If we cannot take them apart we are going nowhere

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
