Maybe a tour of "the Manor" will get him over the line with us..

Perish the thought.

i don't see why we can't have both kelly and lever. dorks got mitchell and o'meara when it looked like they had little to play with.

What about Lever and Rockliff instead? As scrutinised as he has been, he still is a pretty decent player. Its just whether or not he could fit in with us anywhere i guess. For some reason i feel as though he could be a more realistic chance to be ours, if he were to nominate us.

i'd also go for one of the swans excess tall 2ndruck/fwd's. they can't use all of tippett. reid, sinclair and maybe alir alir.

we desperately need a good rotation for maxy who can play tall fwd

i wouldn't be averse to rockliff either. he is 28 in feb, although not too old but getting close

The advantage of Tippett is that you can make the Swans pay the majority of his salary

The disadvantage for Tippett is that he's still Tippett...at his best a seriously good player and at his worst not quite as bad as Vickery...not quite

I have no idea on contract status but I would be looking at Aliir and Mcstay.

Rockliff could still have another 4 years of solid ball left in him, as long as we didn't give up too much then it'd nearly be rude not to have him. Same as Tippett, although he's probably a bit too inconsistent for me. His potential is intriguing but in reality, I don't think he'll work out for anyone. Reid and Aliir YES & YES

Rockliff was on the table apparently last year and no one bought. Also a Rumor thread on DL that he was a done deal as a Demon. Now articles all year about his new coach love affair with Fagan, seems utterly pointless to bring up Rockliff again?

Mcstay is, ahem, Mcstaying at the Lions for another 2 years, signed a new deal less than a month ago.

Rockliff and C you next Tuesday are often used in the same sentence

Jake lever and Zak jones would be a dream result if we could pull it off..

jones would add pace and precision and lever would be a rock in our backline for a decade

Actually. A few months ago I spoke to his juniors coach at Rovers. A bloke named Tim. Bit of a character, so take it for what it's worth... but the more beer me and my old man plied him with the more gossip he threw our way about the demons. He spoke about Hunt (fast but sprays it), Salem (skilled and good player but lacks ticker for the contest), and Brayshaw (lost count of the amount of times he carried him off the ground with concussions)... At this point I put it to him he likes finding the negative about players. He agreed, and said he does go straight to what can go wrong with them. Old habit of a coach. Then he threw in that they have another kid in the group he said he can't find anything wrong with at all. Kelly.

How crazy is it that all 4 grew up together and now all four are some of the most sought after talent in the AFL.

Was just a thought, stranger things have happened. But wasn't he saying not long ago he'd do whatever was in his and his family's best interests? Whatever that means I guess

I know, right? To his credit he did claim only what he saw as a junior. Not as an adult. Said that he could improve in that area easily.

Tim sounds like a drunken idiot.

Drunken, certainly. You can blame me for that. But no idiot. Why the cheapshot? Seems accurate given each players' draft positions.

I'm curious. For those with the patience to venture onto opposition fan-sites, which Demons players have sparked 30-page discussions on their potential poaching? Probably not 30 pages, but I'd be interested to hear in general who opposition fans think they can prise free, the currency suggested, and their perspective on these players as compared to our own.

I don't have the patience for it, but at a guess I'd say the Freo boards (if such things exist) would have been frothing with Hogan talk before he re-signed.

They absolutely were.... many thought it was a done deal... First rounder and change was the general consensus.

Rockliff also doesn't like the Dees apprently. We supposedly promised him a rookie spot and took Jurrah instead at the last minute....

Petracca, Viney, Hogan, Gawn and OMac

(just kidding about the last one...)

pies fans are 100% convinced Petracca is on his way there..... given he supported them as a kid. lolz

After Oliver's amazing season, you'd think it would be him. But apparently Tracca is the one they all want.

And Petracca looks as happy a player at his club as I've ever seen.
And I couldn't be happier.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
