2016 Player Review - # 6 Chris Dawes

Does anyone know the logistics / contractural / salary cap implications would be  of delisting him as a player, and retaining him in some sort of off field "mentoring" / assistant role, should of course he be interested in such an arrangement?  

I understand that despite not being able to give much on the field due to his failing body he is well respected at the club especially as a leader / guide for the younger guys.

Yeah he can instruct our forwards Howe to mark the ball or maybe how to spill the mark to advantage

Just let this guy go he is an embarassment

Hard to imagine any clubs would take the punt. I like Dawes, I really do. He strikes me as a very smart and easygoing person, but even when he's fit, he provides very little upside.

I believe that the Dees will likely keep Dawes on a 1 year reduced pay check deal. Will provide good leadership to a young side. 

Will essentially fight for a spot with Pederson and Weiderman.

I hope this is right. Dawes needs to train his ass off this summer. 

But he is a big unit who can still be very useful

I think he has to go.  If he stays then it's only as a depth player.  So he would be at Casey demanding to be the main go to forward - that doesn't help players like Hulett to develop.

I think it's time to move on...

If Dawes is on our list next year it means we haven't achieved some of what we want this draft/trade period.
