Won't be in the first round, they gave it up for Dangerfield. Oh dear.

I dont think they are worried about that trade outcome.

They wouldn't want to be, considering Joel Selwood will be 29 next year. Their window is rapidly closing and it'll all rest on Dangerfield's shoulders by the time he's finishing his prime.

Selwood 39, Dangerfield 39.

Next most were Bartel and Enright on 26 - two veterans close to retirement.

Geelong is nowhere near where they think they are. I'm not sure a team has ever been as reliant on two players as Geelong of 2016.

Yep they need to shed 2-3 veterans this trade period. Interesting to see whether they will do it

They contracted Bartel for next year, so getting rid of him would be pretty poor form culture-wise.

Get rid of this stupid bye after round 23 please. We can see that one game in 27 days is not an “advantage” for a top four side that wins week 1 of the finals.

I would. He has slowed down in the mind.

You do not get that back

No doubt, he's finished. But the club contracted him for 2 years after triggers, so you can't turn around and refuse to honour them.

Everything in [censored] favour tonight, and pretty well throughout the year, and they were still too bloody old, Obviously weren't used to playing away from their tree.

And they sooked right up to the last minute. Why would you feel sorry for them or the umpires.

Sydney were relentlessly outstanding.

If Selwood ever has a statue erected at Kardinia, it should be in his most regular pose: hands outstretched, mouthguard out, yelling at the umpire questioning where his free kick is.

Enright could not stop crying at the end of the game. Even though he has said he will go on, I wonder if he has had a change of heart and will retire.

Even Jimmy took a long look around the ground after the game. Maybe he will also pull the pin. He would be a media monty.

Must be strange to be in Chunk's position, knowing your younger brother is playing in a Grand Final in his 3rd year of football.

I'm sure he's proud as anything though.

he is a good goal sneak, but he only had 8 possessions

Wouldn't matter if he only had 3 possessions if they were 3 goals and all the tackles and clever moments he had. He's very classy, hard at it and plays the modern day role of a forward pocket to perfection. What I'd give to swap him for Jeff Garlett.

The Swans ability to find quality unheralded role players is amazing. Papley is great. Naismith doesn't win a lot of hit out but he makes the other ruck work and his follow up is great. Xav Richards isn't special but he does a job. Aliir Aliir is special in his intercept and spoiling. They've got some beauties who are very underrated players.

Of course I hate them because they've also got Franklin and Tippett for free and Mills and Heeney for cents on the dollar.

Great to see Zak Jones play himself in to a Grand Final.  Excellent game.

He was very good, except for a nervous patch in the 3rd where he got away with running too far a few times and his composure wasn't as good.

His ability to pick up a loose ball or a backwards handball receive and motor to the outside and get the ball moving forwards is fantastic. He also kicks the ball low and hard with great penetration. Doesn't have the accuracy of a great back flanker yet but the way he runs and can kick means he'll keep getting better.

Makes me wonder if we continue with someone like Harmes from half back even if his kicking and decision making is shonky because he has the same burst and attack and can also kick a ball with good penetration even if the accuracy isn't there.

i'll take the 3 goals every time, was just saying re the possessions. and you can't complain at pick 14 in last year's rookie draft

The result had nothing to do with the bye.

Without insight into two divergent universes, I don’t know how you can say that. What I will say is that inconsistency from year to year in the running of a sporting code is antithetical to what sport is supposed to be about.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
