Yes I am on the (600 strong) waiting list for the Long Room W&FS. I suspect that I will be in my eighties before I get in (however the tradition of asking 'waiting list members' to the annual Xmas Cocktail Party eases the pain).

Yeah may have to think about it - next step is finding two full members I know to sign off the forms haha. I do know a few but not sure if they're full or restricted members

While I am sitting on the MCC waitlist, membership of a reciprocal club is just as beneficial.

For example, I am a member of the Tasmanian Cricket Association, and have the same access as a restricted MCC member (albeit with a $35 fee per ticket). I can also access the member's reserve at SGC, Adelaide Oval, Gabba, WACA, Lords etc. Depending on the club, you can also bring in a visitor.

A perfectly good substitute for the next 15 or so years until the MCC membership comes through in its own right.

I was a full member at 23.

I was put down at birth and just got it 2 years ago. The invention of 20/20 cricket is one of the best things about going to the MCG a good 3 or 4 games and also the domestic one day cricket isn't too bad either.

It's got worse than that. My son (born 1993) was offered restricted membership at age 15 or 16.

My thirdborn (born 1998) was just offered that wanky Provisional Membership recently, at age 18. She won't be offered restricted membership until she's 20, or more likely 21. The wait for full membership after restricted membership will be (another) 20 years.

Back in the day, I was on waiting list for about 9 years before becoming a restricted member, and about another 10 or so years for full membership.

Full intermediate (meaning under 25yrs of age) at 21

Full membership at 25

I work in hospitality and consequently work all weekend. I've been to no more than 5 melbourne games in the last 5 years. However not for a second do I think about throwing my membership in. As a football supporter, the membership pays for itself. If you go to an elimination, semi & a prelim thats half your membership there.

I'm in the same boat, South Australian Cricket Association member.

The caveats though, you have to hold an ID from that state, so while I've lived in Victoria for some time now I still hold a drivers license for SA purely so I can get into the MCC with my SACA membership.

I know that sounds incredibly vain, but my friends are members and I like to go to games with them.

i'm not a lawyer, but you might be jeopardising your car insurance policy (and more). there is a time limit for interstate license holders who are resident here.

They have to get the little kids out of the licensed areas and leave that space for the adults. That's the first step. That balcony area should be sacrosanct. Hate to repeat myself but get them out of the Grey Smith bar. That area is not a creche. When one of these rug rats is crushed and killed one day all hell will break loose. It wont be the parents copping the flack either. The club will get it in the neck.

This whole business with children running riot is because someone threatened to sue the club if they weren't allowed access to the balcony seating area.

Talk about the tale wagging the dog !!!! The MCC has many advantages and good qualities. Since the pursuit of profit has become the guiding principle of the club though, it has gone to hell in a handbag !! I have been a member since 1977 when it was a treat and a privilege to be a member. Now just about any boofhead can get in, dressed any old how and the club couldnt care less about the ambience and the match day experience for members.

Rant just about over , but I could go on if you'd like.

I miss the old Bullring. 

 The requirement  of  a collared shirt in the Members is abused by  the horrific sight of middle- aged bogans in short- sleeve Collingwood jumpers being permitted entry .

Must change license over once you have been hete 3 months. Could find that you are legally unlicensed if you don't; my wife is a lawyer and she insisted that we do it with the time limit.
