Add in Grimes leadership and I actually think he is a keeper in our present circumstances.

From what I have seen of Hibberd, he is a far better user of the ball.

Surprised to see him only listed 86, to me he looked huge a few years back, like a Firrito.Maybe he lost some but I'm pretty sure we're after his physicality and his pretty good left boot. Not sure who's the better runner of the two though

I agree.. Also the stats fail to show t/o  or describe d/e  etc.   that and ....stats are just stats. I like Grimes' gumption. Just wish his game was more effective.. Shame really. 

I recall seeing a tweet from Trengove that was put up on the club website just prior to his return to playing.  The tweet showed a stick of a leg that had withered and degenerated after it had just come out of a long stint of immobilisation from his foot operation.  I don't recall exactly when that was, but I seem to think it was something like December 15/Jan 16.  That he was even able to get to a point of running at anything like AFL fitness this year amazes me.  I'd certainly think his fitness will improve 200% next year after actually completing a preseason as compared to simply getting to first base of a massive injury recovery.

After all that he has been through and all that the MFC has invested in him I'd rather see if he can meet his potential in a red and blue guernsey that someone else picking up who could be next years version of Jayden Hunt.

If there was someone  in the club who understands better Trengoves predicament and whats required other than the lad himself Id be interested t know whom.

Heres a lad who I have utmost respect for. I was among those who thought all things being equal he would be incredibly lucky to just regain full unabated use of his physical being but he has shown hes not only made of the right stuff he is of the right mind

I really want him to succeed. I want what he brought to the game in those early days back . Im sure he does to  and will move another mountain to see if he can do just that.

Some players ponce around as though some self entitled demi god. Trengove wants to play , and play for us. Let him his chance. If he fails to make the mark it will be just so. If he CAN be the original player we are in luck.

Now is NOT the time to call time on this bloke.

Grimes needs to ply his trade elsewhere and the best of luck to him - I hope he plays another 100 games.

I'd definitely re-contract Trengove for a year and see if he can force his way in.  I agree it's a tall ask, but in 2017 if N.Jones or Tyson were out injured he'd be straight in.  At worst - quality inside mid depth.

Three need to be delisted to give us three picks and three need to be swapped for other players two preferably in the experienced group say Hibberd and Reiwoldt and the third for OMeara or Rockliff or Mitchell or FYYYFFE. And Jason Taylor came to me with a smoking stodgie and told me his best was still to come...

Grimes as a RFA can move anywhere if he is made an offer the MFC don't match so he has some options. Trengove as mentioned on another thread earlier is considering his options for a future profession away from football. I doubt that Grimes will be there and Trekkers is very doubtful 

The club should try to retain them as depth, but as many have said it will be up to Grimes and Trengove to decide if they want a trade or not.

I actually think Grimes is better off sticking with us as I don't see many other clubs finding a role for him in the 22 each week unless the game style in the AFL changes back to a one on one style game. Trengove is very young still so if he wanted a fresh start he'd be more likely to get a run in a side with poor midfield depth.

Grimes can play footy, gives effort and has balls - should stay.

Trenners has climbed Everest to get back in the game. He's a smart cookie. Knows how to use a footy well but isn't in top Nick. He'll be afforded a preseason and a year to show whether he can or can't.

Well neither player got a game in the last so I'm not sure what you can make of that, does it mean that their cards are marked as no longer required, or does it mean that they will be re contracted and a game now is irrelevant. 

I'd hope that they both stick around, I know that the general consensus is, one can't kick and one is too slow, but they are much better prospects than Terlich and they gave him 2 years last time. 

Trenners is a very popular player round the club and among the supporters so if he is given another contract, it will be welcomed by most, not all of course but by most. Grimes is also pretty popular but hasn't had to go through the hardship that Trenners has, so they may not require him, pity his decision making is such an issue, he does make a few mistakes but which player doesn't.

I wonder if the club has been in a habit of paying too much for little return, from the past, and i wonder if those players who demand too much & not performing, are on the outer?

This maybe a part of fixing the culture issues, as well ?  no more fat cats falling over & refusing to get up?

I'd give Trenners another pre-season now his foots healed and he's played most of the VFL season (and finals to come) at a good level. If he's got another 10-15% improvement in speed and agility that can be accessed with a good injury free pre-season, he already has most of the other tools to be a good regular AFL player. And his effort to get back on field this year shows he has the fire and commitment.

Maybe he can be rookied, to give us space for another player and give him the time to get back to his best. There are always opportunities to upgrade rookies. I wouldn't like to see Grimes and JT leave in the same year. Grimes will clearly leave.

Trengove will get a one year extension. You heard it hear first.
