Mach5 4,768 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Not getting much of a go at GWS and looking for a move back to Melb. Like most GWS cast-offs he will probably be linked to Carlton, but we have some strong links and NEED some pace like that which he provides. Rangey, pacey line breaker. Can kick a goal. Haven't watched a LOT of him, and I'm not sure of his ability to win contested footy, but I reckon he'd be a strong target for mine, considering I don't think Josh Kelly or Lachie Whitfield are realistic targets.
jnrmac 20,390 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 In my DT. Never got more than 40 points. That's reason enough not to entertain him
jnrmac 20,390 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 These guys are a dima a dozen whose value rockets up at trade time and they disappear forever. Remember we got hot under the collar about... Kristian Jaksch, Brent Prismall etc etc
Fat Tony 5,338 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I think Hoskin-Elliot is worth strongly considering. He has pace, which is so important given the number of goals being kicked over the back. Also contracted I think.

When he plays, he has 5 minutes in each game which is really really good - but he is all "cameo" as far as I have seen
Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 would depend on what we'd have to give up for him i reckon
Demons11 7,152 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 It's a yes from me. Great in the air, quick and I think would be in our best 22.
DemonLad5 1,642 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 He's quick and can kick goals. We need those players
Demon_JB 1,389 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I think he would add a lot to our midfield. Quick outside player who can find the goals. Doesn't mind an overhead pack mark also. Yes from me.

Kristian Jaksch is a soft key tall with a bad work ethic, Prismal was a slow hardball winning mid riddled with injuries. Neither are much like Hoskin-Elliot.
jumbo returns 6,745 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 This one surprises me - I thought he'd get more field time....

What are the strong links, Mach? Given his hyphenated surname, his Melbourne-supporting youth is assured.
hells bells 2,023 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I'd have him. Reminds me of Steve Johnson. First few years pretty average with only glimpses of magic. Nearly gets traded to Collingwood, fails the medical - wins 3 flags and a Norm Smith.

And those deals, including the Hogan deal, means we obviously have a good working relationship with them in terms of trading.

And his stats are way better than WHE. He has done nothing since being drafted to suggest he has a future. 52 games in 5 years averaging 8 kicks? Pass.

Mate, you're the one for some reason comparing players that bear little resemblance. 52 games at GWS isn't too bad. He's fast, has an engine and can kick goals. Fair enough if you don't agree, but come back to me when you have a semi-coherent argument.
Generation dee 1,336 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 You can be as quick as you want, but if you can't find the footy... Another o'rourke in my view. Gws will no doubt get a pick around 12-20 but I just don't see this guy possessing enough outside of "pace" to make it. If we were to ask about a gws player this year, it would be Paul Ahern. Ruptured acl late in 2015 so would be ripe for start of pre season, although contracted until end of 2017, could be valued about 15-25. Again, a high price but I think he has more weapons than whe
pitmaster 3,592 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Must be considered if only for the hyphenated surname.
stevethemanjordan 6,952 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Supporters are always quick to make up their minds about players who have been on lists for years but have had limited exposure at AFL level and haven't shown a great deal. I'm certainly guilty of that. However, GWS as a club are an outlier. The obvious reason being that they possess so much more talent on their list than any opposition club within the AFL. In fact it's a joke how much talent they have. There's a reason their seconds side win by close to 100 points a week every week. The club is a gold mine of talent and we'd be mad not trade for players who would complement our group. Will-Hoskin Elliott is exactly the 'type' of player we need to inject into our midfield mix. We're a really heavily contested midfield group, we're certainly not quick and it's clear to me that we're now at the stage of our list building where we can introduce these specialty type of players and give them really defined roles. The contested part of our game is sorted. Good thread and good post, I'm all for having a dip at him.

dazzledavey36 56,400 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I swear he tore us apart at the G couple of years ago.

If we could shake either Ahern or Pickett out, we'd go a long way toward rounding out our midfield.
